View Full Version : TDi 110 Upsolute
Has anyone here had an Upsolute chip fitted? With all this talk of tuning boxes, I thought I'd see what the score was :D
According to their site, it's now only £176 plus £44 fitting - which sounds damn good to me.
Soo...anyone got one and like to share whether it's any good?
mik has as has tdi 110. I'm sure one or both of them will help you out.
Cool thanks, I'll try them. Also just did a search on the forums (why didn't I do that first  ) and there's loads of info.
Looking tempting :D
Be aware that there are a few mappings available for the 110. I think with the special stage one you'll be able to see over 150Hp...:D
Sounds good to me :D I'm guessing that the different mapping are just a different balance between power/fuel economy?
Iwould suspect it's more agressive fueling and boost. Comensement of injection is probably advanced a bit more as well.
I have indeed (thanks Paulo  )
I'm delighted with it (did approx 38K miles ago now) & Simon (Coe) offered great service ~ both at the time and when I changed my map (no fee) approx 6 months later. Absolutely superb value mod.
The different maps are due to the fact that the TDI's have dual mass flywheels. These can go into harmonic oscillation when you up the torque levels. It varies from engine to engine, but seems to occur at around the 230-250lbs.ft mark on the 110. The PD models can suffer this too, but only at MUCH higher torque figures (usually the clutch on modded PD cars slips first).
Neil "TDi110" had the std map and his car dyno'd at 152bhp / 252lbs.ft. :)
I got the same map and had no probs whilst engine was new (and tight), but as I passed 20K miles and it started to really loosen up, I started to get slight oscillation (feels like you're going over the painted "slow" lines when you enter some villages) around 2k rpm.
I theen went for the "reduced torque" map which pegs back boost around 2k rpm only. Top end stays just as strong. It's shmashin
There is a 3rd "low smoke" map if you encounter any, but I certainly haven't.
Rough stopwatch timings when I got it showed 20mph acceleration increments were faster in 5th with remap than in 4th with std chip in place. Impressive.
Can't recommend it highly enough actually ~ DO IT!
Mik, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I don't think I can justify 8 squillion pounds for REVO and I think Upsolute is cheaper. I am not after maximum power increases mainly cos my insurance company will tell me to bugger off! About 20% would be nice!
Noticed a Group Buy over on UK MKIVS a while back I think they ended up at £280 fitted.
The web site prices from memory don't include VAT

£270 or £280. Can't remember exactly (was a Scotland Group Buy thingybob).
Thanks for the info guys - looks like there's no reason not to, and plenty of reasons to do it :)
There's a guy in Rochester that offers Upsolute (at Impossible Performance) but his email bounced...I'll give him a call this week.
