I would like to verify what the chassis number of the new Alhambra I've ordered means, to make sure it's exactly what I've ordered (got a final invoice for the car today).

Can anyone tell me how to decode it? It begins:

VSS ZZZ7 MZ4 V ...etc

Many thanks!
:cheers:

VSS = Vehicle manufatured by SEAT

ZZZ = gap fillers as a chassis hs to be 17 digits

7M = model (alhambra - ibiza eg is 6K or later 6L)

Z = again a stop gap

3 = year of manufature / pre 2000 letters used

W = is the 11 digit and states factory of origin eg W=wolfsburg

123456 is the production number that relays date of Manufacture

basically all a chassis will state is what car it is and when/where it was built

for a full spec you will need the spec sticker info as supplied in the handbook/boot floor as this is the codes for the computers to build the car - each car has approx 30 - codes for very car - add to that all the models trims years etc - couild take a while ;) but not impossible - and even then the car is in front of you anyway

So my 11th digit is V, does anyone know where that means my Alhambra was made?

:)

Palmela/Autoeuropa is it's birthplace

which from memory is the joint Factory for

VW Sharon
FORD Galaxy
SEAT Alhambra

edit :

yup just confirmed from Seat UK press release of 60th B/day

The Martorell factory currently produces all of the SEAT brand models, except the Alhambra, which is made in the factory owned by the Volkswagen Group in Palmela, Portugal. As a result of this cooperation within the Consortium, the Martorell factory also manufactures Volkswagen models, such as the Caddy.
