hi peeps, just joined forum, as two of my friends have leon cupras ;)
i am prob looking in the next 6 or so months to buy a ibiza mk3 cupra.
i am seeking advice on things to look out for when buying them, e.g. what miliage something went wrong for you ... and how do i tell if its an import?
what miliage should i be looking max to buy the car on? xreg onwards i think.
all help would be appriciated, p.s its gotta be a silver one sorry!
one more thing, whats the headunit like? would it be poss to change it? or will i have to sell up my mp3 unit :(
thanks in advance :repuke:
The main problem is coil packs. Most people have had them fail so hopefully whatever car you buy will have had them replaced anwyay, although it would be a good idea to check.
The head unit isn't too bad, it's the speakers that are crap. You can get a little Sony amp that connects straight to the HU and stick in a stealth shelf and some decent speakers and it makes a lot of difference. You can fit your own headunit but it means chopping up things. I.e. the centre air vents or under the steering wheel (do a search on this and you'll find masses of stuff to read)
if your into modding, late nights, thinking, soildering, dremeling and arsing about then dont worrie about the stereo. Its my first car and i've got headunit where the stock presets are, door builds for 6.5 inch woofer of compontents where the stick grills sit and the interior base of the mirrors have the tweeters blended into them. Exlcuding the stereo equipment about 50quid all in at the most i'd say and a few nights work in the shed and alot of fun and satisfaction and enjoyment at the end.
I do warn you though... getting wires up the back to an amp is a bitch!

Of the head unit? its just like it is when you send it to portugal or whatever to get it done, aint got a pic of mine yet but its not bad, a little too much plastic off the top but not bad.
I got a pic of the builds though, they aint quite finished yet, need to tidy up the trim n get the door card cut a little more to sit on perfect.
