View Full Version : Strut top bushes???

Hi all, I've got a fairly standard MK2 cupra 16v on an R with just over 60000 miles on the clock. I jacked the car up last weekend to reveal the front struts have a lot of play at the tops, so I reckon the strut top bushes are knackered. I know they go eventually but have any of you had any chew with them? Local motor factors don't sell the bits but the dealers supply the bushes at £12.58. This would all suggest why the car wanders a little when going over bumpy road at speed.

Can anyone help, is my DIY mechanics diagnosis any good here. Cheers for any advice.

i have an r reg on 70k ,when i replaced the suspension,i did all the bearings and top mounts, whilst it was all off.
its not that expensive and i won't(shouldn't)have to replace them again.

I may be asking a stupid question but what other bearings are there on the struts apart from the top mount? I was just going to replace the top mounts when putting my suspension kit on.

There's a bearing that sits in the mount, just buy the whole lot from Stu @ ECP.
