Whats your weapon of choice?

So far ive tried the Hot Shot power boost, Millers octane booster and the mighty Aldon automotive stuff.

I think the Hot Shot stuff gave a very destinctive methanol smell, and good acceleration. But prefer the Aldon stuff as it seems to turn Optimax into rocket fuel.

M0rk, Fl@pper, what do you use?

Renault Rally Team aren't exactly local anymore nowadays :(

no need for booster with this stuff (down to 10L as well) ah well have to go in the bike then :p

Dragster uses some serious stuff - $25 a litre i'll get the details

Used to run the Corrado on Optimax & give it a shot of Millers VSP on track days. Had some good results.

Currently testing Optimax and the millers stuff in Moms car.
She likes it, extra go for pence really. Shame you cant use octane booster every day.

What would be the consequences of daily use? Worn valve seats and greater engine wear?

Probably. It will run hotter due to the increased octane levels.

the only downside to using OB all the time would be the dent inyour pocket

Octane boosters can't be used all the time..
The methanol makes your engine run too lean and you will burn your valve seats out..

now and again ok..but all the time will lead to trouble..

I can't see who uses them as they are illegal in race cars..

suppose if you were putting 95 ron an a car that only ran on 98plus then you could use it as a temporary measure.

In April I'm going on holiday to Scotland. That will be in the northern remote regions as I love the great outdoors.

Problem being the Lupo has a smaller fuel tank than most cars (35L). This gives the car a range of 220 - 320 miles, according to driving style  With Super Unleaded being rare I need Octane booster to give me the the 98 / 99 octane the car likes.

Whats the safest octane level a N/A high compression engine, with variable valve timing will take without timing alterations?

you get SUL up north but it costs a bomb lol

higher the RON rating the more advance you can use. unless the engine has a knock senser that can adjust your not really going to see much of a benifit compared to 95.
