Hi,

I may be a newbie to this forum, but by no means a newbie to the VAG world, having owned many a scirocco and polo....ooo and embarrassed many a hot hatch with the rocco ... it really does strike me how low-lifes want to race me, when I've even got a trailer in tow! Current ride is a MK2 Scirocco, but am looking to purchase a Leon MK1 - diesel probably given the 30k millege I currently do in the scirccco per year.

So first question really is, which I suppose if for a different section is, does a mk1 petrol ever do more than 45mpg? If not why not! As my MK2 scirocco does!

My mates corrado did about 40mpg until he fixed it, it does less now but goes like ****:D

But don't think you can get a corrado with a tow bar as I also do a bit of towing! Hence why not sure a polo/ibiza will be big enough!

I've no doubts that it would. Will it easily do 55 in 2nd? Hows the engine like when overtaking two lorries on the motorway, can you slip it down to 4th @ 60 and have immediate power, or is there lag?

They're really tuneable and you can get ridiculous amounts of torque and still do not bad on mpg but even standard depending on which one you get it should pull no prob from 60 in 4th.
