View Full Version : Exeo Water Ingress to Wiring
Hi,
Got my ex Seat Exeo ST Sport on September last year with nearly 10k on the clock. I have put over 8k on now. I had all sorts of fun with a cruise control error - glow plug light flashing and the ABS and Flat Tyre lights on. After three return trips to the dealer, the last one for NINE days, the fault was found to be water ingress to an electrical box, I think it is the one between bulkheads on the drivers side. 15 connectors and the ECU changed. The dealer I got the car from has had one other with the fault and it is now a known fault so if you get the same problem you should not have the same fun and games that I have.

Oh no - water in the passenger footwell was one reason why I got rid of my Passat. In the Passat the "convenience electrics" computer is located in passenger footwell and all sorts of faults, similar to the ones you describe, would crop up when the footwell filled with water.
We need to monitor this - there may be a recall. In the case of the Passat there was a recall to seal the pollen filter carrier. Can you be any more specific as to where the water was getting in?

I was affraid of such problems when I found snow on my battery in December last year.
Also water ingress (rain) to the engine compartment was found around the battery.
That's why I decided to install the original Audi covers.
See here (http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4-FWD-2.0T/Engine/Covers/ES6771/).
Rog,
I had water in the foot well of my B4, a split in the pollen filter box and an alarm fault that was down to water getting into the sounder unit.
As for the Exeo, from that I was told and from the little piece of wire left behind after the repair and have to assume that the problem is with an irregular shaped box on the offside between the bulkheads near the battery. It seems that water can get under one corner of the box.
Despite supposedly working from home, work has had me down and up the M6 a lot since I got the car, I have been getting a lot of white patches under the bonnet which can only be salt.
Mcdonald - like the covers but not the cost of shipping!!!

I posted the link because of the pictures. I ordered the covers from Germany (Autohaus Plaschka AS (http://www.online-teile.com/vw/index.php)) and paid just over Euro 50,00 including shipping costs. Here in the Netherlands some Seat dealers over the covers also, maybe this is the case in the UK too.

Thanks - browsing the net I found pics of how to remove the ECU on a B7 and the plastic housing seems to be identical on the Exeo and Audi. An Audi owner suggested drilling a small hole in the bottom of the plastic box to allow any water to drain.
