Crikey mate, any ideas at all what would have caused that?

Happened on the Leon a month or so ago. Started from the right pillar. Dunno where it came from - nothing hit it or anything.

Others have had similar problems on Beezers and Leons. Got the windscreen replaced under warranty.

I'm sure its a common problem as recognised by SEAT as a warranty issue, so you should be able to get it replaced by them for nothing :)

As said, common fault on mk3 Ibiza.
The cause is the windscreen sitting on a rivet creating an uneven surface. Simply replacing the screen may not be enough. Some people have had a few! I read a poat a while back about a dealer putting some sealant over the offending rivet to prevent it happening again.

I just had my screen replaced for the second time after getting cracks EXACTLY the same as those in your picture. I never had any luck with claiming on the waranty though.

I had heard the theory about the rivet before and so when I got my screen replaced ths time I suggested it as the cause to the RAC man... we had a look and there is NOT a rivet there, and even if there was there is a rubber seal between where it would be and the screen.

I personally think its dwn to the body flexing, as its happened to me both times when cornering hard!

Thanks
Ben
