Chipping an Ibiza???

Hi i have recently purchased a Seat Ibiza GTi 2.0 8v. The 16V was out of my insurance price bracket!

I used to own a Gti MK2 Golf briefly and noticed on the ibiza its a bit sluggish low down when you change and accelerate.

Assuming this is normal i have been advised to get it chipped as the engine i'm told has been restricted due to fuel emmision tests.

Which chip do you think is best?

I read somewhere on this forum that an AMD chip along with an induction kit and back box would give 135BHP. I have read that 'superchips' brand isnt as good?

I would much appreciate anyones help or advice.

P.S. I am running 16 x 7" alloys and when there is a load in the back they do tend to scrape. Would lowering make this worse or would it be better due to being stiffer?

The AmD chip is generally thought of as being the best for the 8v

How much have you lowered your car?

cos I run those size wheels (no drop yet) and they don't rub at all

AMD DO the bst chips for n/a seats, through sjb sport its about 250ukp and done on the rollers to get the best results .the 8v has the best torque low down than the 1.816v or 2.016v but runs out of power that little bit earlier. but alot cheaoer in the head/cam dept and can have bigger valves fitted .
which golf did you have as some info to the 1.816v which i have would be benificial? thanks

It sounds like the AMD chip is probably the best for me. Do they put it on a rolling road and tune it at the same time?

Its running 16"x7" but on a 35 offset i think, theyre not the cupra alloys. Havent lowered it yet, thats why i am a bit worried. It only scrape if there is 2 or 3 people in the back, which doesnt happen much anyway.

Oh jason, my car is dark metallic purple, i actually live in hay-On-Wye. My Remote Centrol Locking no longer works is there anywhere in the area who can put it back in phase with the car. The key also no longer starts the engine. Im using my spare at the moment.

That looks very good! what other mods did you have e.g. Induction kit, Exhaust system etc?

Could i ask you where you had it done and how much it costs? (chipping + tuning)
