Just heard that our local VW dealership has put in to do SEAT servicing etc. under the new 'block exemption' rules. A few years ago the same dealer put in for a SEAT franchise but were turned down, I wonder if this is revenge:devil:

Spoke to the SEAT dealer about it and suggested he put in to do VW servicing but he said that they are too busy with SEAT and the VW mechanics must be standing round scratching their butts part of the day.

We'll see what develops.

Who'd have thier SEAT done by a VW franchise?

SEAT charge about £30 an hour less labour..:(

I can understand a SEAT garage wanting VW work though...

However due to SEAT being a company on the up who's market share is still expanding as you say they are struggling with their workload anyway.

Up here the labour rate on 'retail' is £35/hr for SEAT and £45/hour for VW.

But you're right Mark the local SEAT dealership is a victim of it's own success, it started really small, you know one of those petrol stations with a tiny showroom (3 cars) and a tiny workshop in the corner. Even now the workshops have only 4 lifts including the MOT bay and 2 mechanics actualy have to share one of them.

That'd be cool if that could be done, as mine would go to the local Skoda dealer, who I believe are opening another dealer down the road from me at our Hyundai and Lotus outlet.
