My usual drive is an Ibiza cupra tdi.
But today i got chance to drive a Seat Exeo 2.0 tdi 140bhp. Have to say, very impressed with it overall.
Good things
1. Very comfy and quiet
2. Seemingly very well built
3. Amazingly quiet diesel engine (Are you sure it's running on diesel?)
4. Nice positive handling
Bad thing
1. Rubbery gear change
2. Seemingly reluctant to let me get into 1st while moving, although this may have been me trying to select 1st when 2nd was more than good enough.
3. Odd brakes, pedal pressure doesnt seem to relate much to how you stop... are all new cars brakes like that? But it does stop very well.
Won't be swopping in the Cupra just yet. But can see why the Exeo seems rather popular buy, alot of car for the money.
Just bought a 2010 2.0TDi Sport 140. Have to say its a very nice positive drive, road handling seems solid enough and as you say it certainly doesnt seem like a diesel at all!
What attracted me most is the ability of the car to either be a reasonably sporty mid sized saloon for when I'm on driving my own, or a nice looking executive saloon for work days or, if I drive like my granny, a mild mannered and frugal drive returning 50+mpg...and having just swapped a car that did at best 28mpg thats pretty nice I can assure you.
Also it passed the all important Wife Test - she is more than happy to ride in the passenger seat. :D
Ive heard some people say the sport has too firm a ride but I quite like it.

After the Ibiza cupra, the ride felt like i was floating on pillows made of cloud . Doubt this one was the sport though.

After my previous "car" (a chrysler voyager 2.8 Exec) this felt like riding a mountain bike over a bed of rocks :p

Welll pleased with mine, even after driving a Leon TSI DSG [ 28 vis 52 mpg] although I DO miss the TSI, it had 273hp
Hi all. just registered. So this is my first post. Really excited - picking my Exeo up tonight after work - ST SE Tech 143. Had an Altea 1.9D Stylance for 3 yrs.
Barny, welcome to the fourm :)
Like you, I went from an Altea, to the Exeo..... they're a world apart, the Exeo is so much more refined!
Previous to the Altea, I had a Mk1 LCR, so I'm used to a firm ride, so the Sport suspension on the Exeo doesn't seem overly harsh at all. In fact, it gives very positive feedback to the road conditions etc, and allows for you to give it some stick when required ;)
We went to test drive a Galia Blue Sport 2.0TSI - It was nice, had all the toys, leather etc. Nice car, but he wouldn't budge on price and we were looking originally for a diesel so left it at that.
There is something I'm just not sure about them though? Think it's the headlights?

Lets be fair, the MK4 Cupra suspension isn't exactly what you would call compliant....
Exeo should be a nice drive though given it's donor vehicles.
Well, picked it up this evening. Like a kid with a new toy - and I'm 51!! Back to the garage tomorrow -DVD for SatNav is missing
