Hello peeps.

Well due to popular requests to get a RR that does'nt flame grill your turbos or intercoolers, and one that gives accurate readings, with proper data logging of engine parameters..............and fans which cool, and short power runs.....

I am happy to give you a choice of 3 Sundays

the following link has the options which you can vote on (for 4 more days).

http://www.seatcars.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3089

Price is £20/car same as PS was.
Max 25 cars. Seats only this time, 1.8T's in particular.

For people interested in doing this, please email me your name, car details, and contact details (email, phone) to dyno@badger5.demon.co.uk

Many thanks

Bill

Hmmm, I do want to get a proper reading on a RR, but I was rather hoping you would choose Jabbasport for the re-run, as I can kill 2 birds with one stone (I want to discuss their 300bhp conversion and try it in their Golf demonstrator.). BTW, nothing against Stealth, its just that I need to visit Jabbasport and I don't want to put too many miles on the car.

Cheers
Ben

PS. If Jabbasport come along to Stealth and bring their 300bhp Golf with them then I could still kill 2 birds with one stone. :)
Also will get a dyno proof of the 300bhp. :)

Too many miles on your car?
Don't be so tight! :D

Will it matter if you go for 300bhp conversion anyhow?

Only kidding.....

I will ask Jabbasport if they want to come to Stealth.
At least the rollers are accurate and reliable, and things get cooled as they should.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a printout showing 207bhp.

BTW, just had a thought..... you know that there are 2 versions of the 1.8T engine, one with VVT and one without, well Stealths website says that the non VVT engine show 11bhp less that the VVT engine when chipped. It appears to be luck of the draw whether you get the VVT engine or the older spec engine.... is it possible that you have the non VVT engine and hence get less power from the chip.

Sorry to bring all that up again, I just wanted to see what you thought about that.

Please let me know if Jabbasport will be making an appearance. Actually, i'm probably gonna phone them tommorow to see if they've finished the 300bhp Golf yet.

When you say "Our Ibizas" do you mean Ibizas in general or specifically yours and mine. If the latter then what makes you think this.... is it the shape of the graphs or what?

Just curious.

Thanks

Im not 100% but i think the VVT is for Leons only.

Late 2001 and 2002 models usually

waiting for correction :p

I am pretty sure "our" Ibizas, being very close in age (within a month) will not have the VVT. I do not believe any Ibiza 20VT's have the VVT.

Happily proved wrong though.. Mine does not have this though.

Plain Jane 20VT.

So this implies that there are significant differences between the 1.8T engines on the different VAG cars then (Ibiza, Leon, Golf, TT etc). I thought the engines were identical and only the supporting systems varied (Turbos, pipes, etc). Obviously not.

Now i feel like I've got an out-of-date engine already! :(

Oh well... its still goes fast! ;)

Come on people..
Lets be having you...

We need more names.

This RR session will be a definative accurate affair, unlike the Power Station day of the 19th Jan.

Stealth Racing are very experienced VAG specialists with an excellent facility and RR.

Let us have your names as per the 1st post..

thanks
Bill

I understand it's the late 2001 and newer Leons only with the VVT engine, non of the Ibizas have it. This is why there are two types of ECU for the Leon. I'm not sure what it called but it's something 7.0 on the early Ecus and 7.5 for the VVT ECUs. I think it is the software version.

Does anyone know what block i can monitor whether vvt is on or off using vag-com ?, that would be an easy way to see if my car has it

Just find out which ECU you have, but I would guess you have'nt unless it a late 2001 with the new type ECU.

Apparently the VVT engine has been used in non turbo car for a couple of years now in the A3 range etc

Impossible

VVT... Lift your engine cover, looking striaght at the engine you will see the coils etc.. on the right hand side of the engine,in line with the coils, on the side of the engine block, at the top. if you have a black cylinder(plastic)1"x3" (there a motor inside), few wires coming from it,
This is the motor which turns the timming gear by a chain inside the engine. If you have it A golf 1.8T for example, will produce about 215Bhp rather then 192.
Happy searching

Mic

I will try digging a photo out to help you in your quest....

Dear ALL

The Stealth RR day has been postponed as it was generally felt that it was too close to the Bruntingthorpe Track day.
It will be rescheduled to another date in the future.

Chances are that the Jabbasport one will now be the next dyno session we wil run.

Dates will be posted in due course.

Thank you
regards
Bill
