Hi, my daughter bought a 58 plate Ibiza SC last October and is generally very pleased with it. However it has a habit of draining the battery and in fact when we checked it last Xmas we were shocked to see a Halfords battery in place, rather odd for such a new car

Anyway, we have charged the battery several times but periodically she comes out to the car and finds it either very flat or on a couple of occasions, completely flat such that even when it is jumped the power steering doesn't work until there is a charge in the battery!

Looks like we may have to get an auto-electrician to look at it - but before we do, is anybody aware of any common faults on this model that could be causing an occasional short.

(The alternator has been checked and is absolutely fine)

SEAT have an update to deal with this, get it into a dealer to check if it has been done.

You need to book it in for a 'BCM' update at your local dealer. This is a control module that can draw too much current, hence your flat battery. Many have been sorted, yours has obviously not.If it is under 3 years old,you are covered by the warranty.Happy days.
