View Full Version : Changing front fogs
I have just changed the bulbs in the front fogs and found that it wasn't the easiest of jobs to do. Having to remove the surrounding grill can be quite tricky and if you haven't the right tools, can cause damage, i therefore thought of tackling the problem from the other side, go into the bumper from the wheel arch.
Unscrew the star screws from the arch and the two from underneath the bumper just enough so you can open it up a bit
once you have done this, you should be able to access the fog light from the back,
twist anti-clockwise and then pull out, change the bulb and jobs a goodun
passenger side is a little trickier but still possible. [B)]
once i've figured how to upload some photos i'll get them up
Well done mate. You need 15 posts before you can post pictures sadly. Unless you send them to some one here and they do it for you.
Thank you for the guide, mate. Do you think there's sufficient room to make the job of replace the original bulbs with a xenon ones.
Cheers!!

No worries mate,
i'm not sure what the layout is like in the boc, but if its the same as the sport, then i'd say there's enough room, are you wanting to just change the bulb or the complete light unit...if its the fog unit itself, then you will have to remove the grille as it will only come out through the front.
btw, just had a look through the mods you've done, very nice!

thanks again for the compliments mate :)
I want to put an aftermarket xenon kit, the procedure for putting xenons are similar as the original bulbs.
cheers!!

Hi viktor, just been having a look through some other posts about fogs...there's a couple about people with cupras and bocs and they've all been talking about having to remove the bumper before being able to mod the lights....have a go with going through the wheel arch as this is a nice easy solution if it works and if that fails you might have to take the bumper off:headhurt:
Good luck let me know how it goes mate
The fog light grilles come out quite easy if you get a trim removing kit, Ebay 110649622487 They are extremely useful for removing various bits of trim on the car.
The foto below shows where the tags fit into the bumper, slide one of the trim tools inbetween the fog light grille and the bumper to release the tag and ease the grille out. The tools prevent damage to the paintwork so are well worth the money. wash the car before you start to remove any grit!!
