Heres my results from a dyno session @ Star Performance earlier today.

http://www.btinternet.com/~graeme.mccallum/DynoResults2.jpg

Not too sure what "Norm Power" is but 175Bhp looks good. I assume Engine Output is the power @ flywheel, seems about right it it is 153.5 (only slightly down on 156).

Extremely impressed with my torque figure though, 185Lb/ft - Yeeha!!!

PS - The car is a Seat Ibiza 1.8 20vT with no mods.

Meeko, sorry i didnt get a chance to speak to you today. I was very impressed by the figures your car got.

Pity you didnt stay around for too long, I got a shot off the APR chipped ibiza. Really really impressed, just gotta save up and get it done to mine now.

C ya...

Bluenose - Your just jealous of my figures mate. :D Now, take your French Poof Chariot and get out our forums. :P

Although, I do think the 174bhp is a wee bit optimistic.

Anyone care to shed any light on what the "Norm Power" figure is all about???

AFAIK, DIN 7002 is a standard which gives measurements at a given temperature and pressure among other things. To make your readings compliant, correction factors are applied to compensate for the higher temperature (79 deg C! - surely the charge temperature, not ambient!). It can be used as a bit of a fiddle if the temp is artificially high compared to the standard (25 deg C I think?).

Basically what your graph says to me is that you would get 170ish bhp IF the charge temperature was at ambient and not 79 deg C.

So if charge temperature really makes that much difference then maybe its time some of the chipped car bods started fitting water mist injectors???

Stealth Racing have had good experiences with Water injection on turbo cars.... not that it gave more peak power but allowed the motor to hold power and be less susceptable to heatsoak.

Give Vince a call.

Mosser, Cheers for the web link. I had been thinkng about making my own water mist for the intercooler using a microswitch on full throttle, but as the site explains this would be pretty pointless. I guess the system needs to be intellegent so that is cools the intercooler when it is hot and not when the car is boosting. A larger cooler (or should I say heat sink) is the answer....dam no room. I have just read "Maximum Boost" , this also confirms what is being said.

Worth a read everybody....

Well i am going to fit an even more intelligent controller that is able to predict exactly when you are going to give is some sustained full throttle!!!,

It is a button on the steering wheel with me controlling it!!! :D ,

I dont mind if i waste a bit of water using it when i dont need to, as long as i use it when it is needed!!,

The whole of that write up is designed to do just one thing..., and that is to sell their controller!

Exactly,

Norm power would be the output in perfectly stable conditions, engine output is the predicted actual output of your cars power after certain factors have been added; temperature, air preassure etc. It is also very accurate.

I have to say though that yoour figures (Norm, Engine) are very wite apart. Mine is 162.5 - 163.0. My Air temp is only 19 deg C though!!

Figures also from Star performance.
