Same problem here. It appears that the query string is being HTML encoded, so it was appearing as ?s=&action=showresults&getnew=true&searchid=430684
Replace & with & in your browser's address line and it works.
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31198
it's due to the software upgrade that we did on friday
we know what it does, just not why [nor how to fix it]
seems OK on my PC on Opera & IE, not OK on my Mac on any browser
try clicking the link before the page refreshes
or remove the amp; from the URL (3 times)

Well, that didn't come out as I intended - the code behind the forums is trying to be too clever. I'll try again.
The query string is coming out with ampersands (&) replaced with the HTML encoded version (& amp;).

right so taking the simplists point of view (as my boss would), whens it going to be fixed then ?
I'll give you the answer I'd give to my boss
If I knew that I'd probably already have done it
but like I put ^^^ up there - we know the problem, just not what caused it - it's not a reported bug.

Just another point, it now requests you log in before it lets you try and see new posts, nothing major just anoying that you log in and it then says you cant see the new posts.
P.S. are you sure this isnt just a ploy to reduce the number of posts ;) :D
yup - you have to (now) login to search
LEO LION R

Yeah and when i do that it takes me to a search topic and not main menu of latest topics ?
Even when you reply to a post it throws you back to a page saying link not available ?
click the link b4 the page refreshes - that gets round it...
will sort it as soon as I can

Is this SCN or SE cant tell the difference these days.
:D :D
LOL I'm not defecting though, feel to comfortable here, although I'm not a fan yet of the 'new look'

that's why it was down all night while the database rebuilt.
another style will come later on today tho - but the font size on this is too big, so we'll change that too

It may not be to everyones taste, but it is far better forum software, we've held off for so long, but we now need the extra features we didnt have in the older vB2.
As Mark says it's going to be jigged about a bit yet. And there will be a lighter background choice too.
All takes time (our free time) to do so be patient please.

Going back to a lighter background will keep me happy :D
Otherwise it's all good :D

Nice work guys - it's good to have the "new posts" feature working again.
While you're tweaking the new software though, pls could you take a look at making it resize correctly to work at less than 1024 pixels wide? Using Mozilla Firefox 0.8 on Windows, sized to approx. 800x600 (I don't like having to make windows full-screen), a few things drift off to the right of the screen.
The ones I've spotted so far are the banner/"welcome" message across the top of all pages, and the "Message" section of the Reply page that I'm typing into at the moment (which seems to problems with several of its borders in Mozilla).

Lucky you getting to use Outlook at work - we're sodding Notes
Anyhow, not a complaint as such, but I don't like the new look so I'm looking forward to the other options! I guess it's just a case of getting used to it, but it's a bit 'kiddie'. I keep expecting all the posts 2 hav gon illiterit, like sum other forums I has seed.

Exactly and were on Filemaker Pro (not so pro  )
Did you also notice a lot of the smilies aren't working too.
Any chance of having an old-school black background mode again?

Doubtful - it seems to jam in a lot of stuff.
we can size it to be whatever width we like, or a %age (as it is now)
we gotta have the banner at the top, and when resized it looks a bit shite.
i run it in about 300x100 when I'm at work [so the office can't see what I'm doing] so I can appreciate what you mean.

I must have answered this already 2 or 3 times.

yes - and the smilies are at the top of my list......
right below 'getting all the important stuff done 1st'

:spin: De-stress a bit - sorry i'm still getting used to it... it's... soo... weird..
Been on here so darn long i'm just used to the way it looked. Almost spilt me coffee n'everything..
Really do appreciate all the work, think it's a vast improvement functionality wise (hopefully less bugs too)
Are the colours here to stay?? Grey is a bit dull dont you think?
Oh one suggestion - can you up the 500 character limit on sigs? I think it counts URLs as part of the 500 limit etc.. had to drastically cut down on chars to get the meeting info in. Shouldn't have performance issues with, say 1000chars :)

Most of the settings are the forum defaults mate, by 1am last night I really didn't care (plus I would have only made the wrong choices)
the no of characters isn't what loads the server - but vb3 is running much lower load than vb2.3.0 or 2.3.4
edit: He beat me to it!
:)

Not really, the grey is easy on the eyes, black text on light grey is easy to read, and it matches with the main site colour scheme which was widely well received.
Garish colours distract from the text, causes eye strain and headaches for the reader, maybe not such a problem on less visited sites im sure. ;)
Our time is at a premium so we're not tailoring the site for each and every users taste in colours.
can we have the quick reply box at the bottom
maybe - i'll try it later when the board is a little less busy & see if it looks mucky or not.

Just something for the TODO list rather than a command from me ;)
As long as there's no issues for you guys in upping the limit then no worries.
Was doing my head in this arvo when editing my sig for the next meet and it kept saying "exceeded 500 char limit" - dumb thing was it didn't tell me by how much so it was guess work :spin:
BTW nice to see a calendar available! I don't have the perm. rights to add events tho..
