Hi all,

I'm looking for an induction kit for my mates 1.4 (8v I think) Ibiza. Have searched the forum and found people saying they use K and N but the places I have spoken to say K and N don't do one for the 1.4. Anyone know of a good induction kit that gives a good sound for the 1.4?

Thanks

Noel

i have the pipercross induction kit, its pretty cool, and veryeasy to do.
i've been told by another member of this forum that k & n do an induction kit for the 1.4 8v polo, which uses the same engine as the ibiza 1.4... so it'll fit :)

its up to you what you go for. the pipercross induction kit can be ordered from potn.co.uk for around £100

what age is your Ibiza? do you know the engine code as well?

cus - the pipercross one is utter crap.

It's a mates car, its a 2001, not sure the engine code just know its 1.4 8v.
Does the K&N for the polo fit alright. I have been told by Rtec that if it fit they would have it listed as suitable for the ibiza, although the engines are different apparently the engine bays and layouts can be different,

Anyone with the K&N give me any advice??!

yes - the polo K&N works fine on the 2001 model - just when you collect it make sure you have a 50mm neck on it

Also - make sure you make adequate cold air flow to it - else it will just suck hot air & be noisey, but much slower

the piper cross one is 'too' big & sucks right off the back of the engine bay. you can't get enough air to stop it from getting hot air in. - plus it was originally destined for the Shitroen AX - I was there when they first 'tried' it back in 2001

no idea for sure - but try www.awesomegti.com for the K&N

I have heard the pipercross in action sometime ago, could someone with the K&N confirm that it still gives a nice sound from it?!
Thanks

P.s. if my mate went for the pipercross whats the downside of it being so big? does it sound great but detract power cos of hot air?

m0rk

K&N will sound just as good. and will filter better

and the hot air will make a serious dent in performance.

I had a Pipercross on my 2.0 8v and it was crap. The car was far more responsive after I put the standard airbox back on.

I've always thought K & Ns make a more throaty noise than the Piper-X, so if you are determined to get one then I'd go for that.

I had a pipercross induction kit on my old 2.0 16v, but took it off cos it was crap. Wrecked fuel economy, slowed the car and sounded pants.
I gave it to m0rk, who I think has pretty much said the same :p

Hi Cus

its used to be on the old website but i just checked and they have changed it now and i cant find the Polo code for the induction kit, however here is the code for the part and the number for Pro - Sport, think it cost me about £100.00 including P&P, but you would have to call to check.

Polo 1.4L 57-0406

If not try these 2 websites as just found that they do the same induction as i have and they are cheaper than i paid a few months back.

I think the code you want is 57-0193-1 needforspeed.co.uk have it for £60 plus delivery!

cus

£60 is really good price! seems really cheap though. i think thats why i chose pipercross, because k&n seemed too cheap to be true..
but i'll probably get the k&n now though.

I have just fitted a K&N to my clio and it sounds great but there is a noticeable drop in performance! I am going to get a re-location pipe made for me similar to one sold by by K-tec for the clios. Does anyone know of a similar pipe available for the Ibiza's?
see this link for the kind of thing I mean.

Finally my mate has bought the induction kit, however with our limited engine knowledge we can't figure out where the hell it goes! can anyone give me some pics or instructions of where there's is attached?

got the big engine cover lifted which appears to house the air filter..(god what a crap design) but not getting where it goes!!!

Cheers hope to hear from you soon we want to fit it now!!!!

Sorry its the k and N induction kit, just need to know where it fits on! fitted my own to my clio no probs but with this big engine cover and magic hidden airbox (if im right in thinking its at the front underneath the engine cover) its a bit of a challenge!!

The K&N kit for the 1.4 is a good one and @ 60 notes is a good deal

however this (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9012) is way more better

Noelpilot, you around the Cheshunt / Cuffley area in Herts? I always see / hear a Clio in the area with an induction kit thrashing around, only one I've seen with an induction from experience.

I've had my K&N for about 3 years or so, it's still filtering and car running well (cleaned every few months ofcourse). Was for Polo 1.4 8v also. Thumbs up! Green also do one, same kinda cone, but u don't get cold air feeder included like with K&N.

Im in hatfield now, been in devon for last few months so probably not me, my mate who we just fitted the induction kit to his ibiza is from cheshun tho, black 2001 ibiza cupra front grille, 16" multispokes now with nice induction noise too!!
Cheers for all your help guys, once we took the engine cover off was easy just didn't expect to have to take the whole thing off!!!

Might look into a piece of silicone tubing and relocate it a la the picture above, looks like a good idea to get it away from some of the heat!

makes a great noise and the little slurp as he lifts off and changes gear is awesome!!

Thanks for all your help guys.

Hi noelpilot

hope the pics helped, keep meaning to build a heat shield for mine, but not had the time yet, i know i love the noise the induction kit makes and i sometimes change gear or put my foot down a bit when people are about just to see thier reactions, let us know how you get on with the piping.

sorry mate, i have the 1.4 chill and i have the piper cross induction kit. its crap cos like ppl say its sucking air from the engine. i had to use a cold air feed but i dont think thats really working as well

m0rk
02-08-2005, 17:36
you need to relocate it - cold air feed's are better than nothing, but it's still worse than moving it
