had one of these chase me down last nigh; silver one near magna park on the A5. Whooped his ass but it did surprise me how quick it was up to about 70.
While we are on it a vulva s80 turbo had a go in the same place this morning; left him initially then at high speeds he started to creep up a little bit.
A mate of mine had one about a year ago. 1.6 16V with 125bhp IIRC, but lacking in torque. Throttle response was very good & they weigh very little so they're quick off the mark.
S80 turbo, on the otherhand, is big & heavy. 2.0, 5 cylinder 180bhp, I think.
yeah i think they are cool little cars :D
Cool cars, but tiny!! That's the main reason my mate got rid of his.
im a small car man though... got a mini as well :D
never really been into big cars, my mate has always driven larger cars, pug estates 405 etc etc, where as i always have the smaller models.
I always go for the best power in the smallest body shell, to keep weight down. and also at the moment i dont have a need for a bigger car, but since im getitng married in may and then doing all grown up stuff like buying houses and dogs and prob kids some time then no doubt a bigger car will be on the cards.
mmm me want a 330d estate. (again not the biggest estate, but the biggest engine in it :D )
I have a Lupo Gti, I think it's fantastic, part exchanged a Golf 25th Anniversary for one. It's got so much spec as standard too.
It's not the quickest thing ever, but I didn't buy it for that and it still has six gears like the Golf did. My only regret is that I didn't get a red one!!
Yeah these are great cars. I only drove the 5 speed one, the 6 speeder is probably a bit more nippy.
They may be small but they're still quite solid and I think I had more room in the front than I do in my Ibiza.
There was a Lupo GTi on the AAT autoslalom i did last year... it was small and fecking nimble little bugger!. he only did a half day but was shaving times of my runs very quickly! Nice cars.. but a bit buzzy on motorways.

Are you sure he was trying? What speed did his acceleration slow down at? Most of the power is above 4000 rpm with the VVT power band, upto 6800 rpm.
I had a Lupo GTi on the 1st of March and I can safely say they are rapid. Definately not lacking on torque 152 IB / foot @ 3000rpm. Only weighs 970kg! It will out handle many cars out there. On coilovers there just sweet!

When the funds are complete I will have to give Bill a call for the throttle body conversion.

I think you've got your lb/ft and Nm mixed up - Lupo GTI puts out 112 lb.ft or 152 Nm torque. I test drove one of these a while back (5 speed), and it certainly did shift. I scared the life out of the VW salesman that went with me - was his first day in a new job! :)
That would be the beer working. Needed it after today.
The car was great fun in 5 speed form, but the new 6 speed keeps the engine in its power zone. It can drink heavily when provoked.
