View Full Version : Blue smoke after a couple of mods?

Hi,

So over the week end I fitted my fmic and removed N112, N249 and SAI, after starting her back up again and going for a spin round the block we noticed some blue smoke puffing out when I pull away!

When we got back I revved her on the drive and she's now kicking out some blue smoke, but it's not under boost, it's pretty much most of the time!

With the new fmic on and better air flow, could that cause the turbo to suck in any "left over" oil from the standard intercooler system? (ie pipe to inlet)

Although, it didn't have any blue smoke what so ever before done these mods.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Ed

Blue smoke on idle sounds like a turbo on it's way out, it could be excess oil from the FMIC (if it is second hand). But generally that would only happen for a short spell. If i were you i would check your oil consumption over the next few weeks, as the blue smoke on idle is heavily linked with turbo failure.

Was worried about that, just find it strange it's started after doing those mods, I'll keep an eye on the oil level, hopefully it clears up!

you could always un bolt the intercooler and tip it on its end to see if any oil comes out

Only went on yesterday, was new! Will check any ways as I have to adjust it a wee bit.

by any chance have you fitted a oil cach tank or removed the pcv valve

Not yet, I have one that I'm fitting tomorrow. But I did take the pcv valve off to clean up round that area as it looks as if it's been leaking, could that affect it at all?

yes i left mine in but i blocked the inlet pipe off on the pcv, i ran the car for a bit but it then started blue smoking put a bit off pipe back the valve to the inlet no more smoke , no the valve is full removed and replaced with some 19mm silicone hose had no problems since
