Have given this some carefull though a while back,

This seems a more sensible option than fitting a K04 turbo (for the ibiza anyway) as the K04 would render it undrivable in lower gears,

Get you speed up and when you want that extra power flick on the nitrous and off you go! selectable power! APR eat you heart out! (no offence intended)

The biggest problem i think we have is most nitrous systems run off a full throttle switch, To put it bluntly.....The 20VT lump doesn't have one!

Fly by wire! DOH!

Im sure there is a way round it though!

Simple!!, you just cut the side out of the throttle limit adjustor on the floor of the car directly under the throttle pedal, then all you do is glue in a micro-switch and wire it up!!

Are you going to be the Guinea pig again mosser?

I thought you would have learnt that from the LPG experience!:)

No offence taken. But remember one thing, when you have had 3.5 hours of fun with your NOS, you will have paid for a K-04 upgrade with two stage boost.:D

As for throttle switching on the DBW- just another extension of our EMCS capability's

Isn't the problem with Nitrous that if you get a leak (Or have an accident) that the car explodes and you die a horrible death?

The bottles can explode, but it is VERY rare that it happens.

I remember seeing a couple of years ago a picture of a young american guys car whose Nitrous bottle had exploded in the trunk (boot). The car as peeled apart like a tin can and the cars seams had been torn apart and the whole chassis was twisted.

Lucky for them, this happened in their garage overnight and no one was injured.

Amazing damage though.

I'm curious whether anyone has fitted NOS to a 2.0 16V Seat. With my car currently turning out 165bhp from a Dyno plot I wanted around another 40bhp from a NOS kit.

I've been looking at the Highpower Streetblaster 100i kit with say 40bhp jets, and a Powamax Progressive Controller to allow me full control of the NOS.

As conventional tuning on the 16V seems to be very expensive to get 205bhp etc, (ie. Head Work, Cams, Badger 5 DTH kit <-- albeit it sounding great if I had the ££), I was just after some extra bhp for the weekend, on a 1/4 strip), as I'm more than happy with my 165bhp for everyday use, and I've got used to revving my 16V like an electric drill to make it shift!

From talking to street guys using NOS at resonable jet sizes up to 50bhp on a stock motor, providing you use a digital controller and don't use the NOS all the time (which I think is where many ppl go wrong) then there are no problems per se. I would never contemplate using it on the road (aside from being illegal or whatever) as that's not what I want the system for. Ultimately its up to the drivers discretion in terms of how well he wishes to look after his car and NOS system, without A) Causing engine damage and B) spending a fortune filling up the NOS Bottle.

In terms of the NOS exploding, well I wouldn't leave the bottle in the car for street use, but only install the bottle on the track. This has a the twin effect of, not tempting the driver into activating the NOS system on the road, and B) not exploding the car in the event of an accident.

I'd heard there had been perhaps a Cordoba down at one of the original Alconbury track days that may have had NOS.... so was after anyones direct experience with NOS on a 16V, or comments in general.

Whilst I would love a chipped 1.8T, the car is not available where I am now currently based (Malta) so the 16V will have to do for now.

A mate's having NOS installed in his Honda Civic 1.6 VTi on Thursday, so I can let you know what he thinks of it. He's also coming to the track day, as long as he got his cheque sent off in time (He sent it Saturday).

The problem isn't only the bottle exploding though, I've heard that if you get a simple leak in a pipe (Supplying Nitrous) then your gonna get either an explosion or at least a bad fire!

This is especially a problem in an accident where its quite likely that a pipe will come off or slip or something. But of course everyone will now turn around and say "But I wont crash". ;)

I'd be interested in seeing an Ibiza with a nitrous kit though.

Nice to see a NOS car

not seen his cheque yet though :(

time is ticking on though

I wonder if my weak transmission could handle NOS....

AFAIK Nitrous is not explosive, it's not flammable at all so it won't explode. Is is an aid to combustion, making the burn faster and release more power. If your car is on fire and the nitrous leaks it will burn quicker.

Just spoke to him and he missed the post on Saturday, so it should have gone this morning.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him...

from what i understand your g/box should be rated up to 300ft/lbs of torque

Yes, I heard that the Ibiza gearbox is rated at 300lb/ft.
