What oil?

What oil would you guys in the know recommend for a petrol 16v engine that has variable valve timing?

I plan to have the oil changed at 1000 miles or as close to.
Would a 10w 40 provide protection at higher tepmeratures?
Any suggestions on the brand and type of oil? Im considering Castrol GTX Magnatec or Formula Rs.
Is it worth using a friction reducer like ZX1?

Any advice would be cool.

If thats whats in the Starship Badger then I will have to get some for the Lupo!
Been out for a spirited drive this evening and I think I might get the oil changed sooner.
What colour shoud it be? Its a light yellow with a greenish tint, plus muchos metal particles.
