right i've trial fitted my head unit today and got it working, thing is its only working with ingnition on,i'm told i need to swap or move one or more of the cables about a bit,so it will save all that stored in thew HU.
haynes is more vague than a vague thing, and doesn't even show the violet cable in the book.
i take it that the perm live is the slightly thicker red wire??if so where does it need to be moved to if at all.
 basically, how the bloody hell do i get my head unit plumbed in so i can use it with out the ignition/loosing me clock etc many thanks

I think you need to swap the red and yellow cables over. Hopefully your loom will have push fit connectors so you can just swap them. I.e the red on the HU goes to the yellow in the car and vice versa. It looks wrong when you do it, but it is right. I guess Seat decided to use the colours a different way to everyone else.

you will need a perm live to feed memory and clock etc

and the IGNITION live can be fused to a permanent live also

that is if you wanna use it with ignition off

multimeter will tell you which is main +12v perm live
just add both +ve supply in to that one
