Car goes in for a service, with one of the interior courtesy light bulbs had packed in and a windscreen wiper blade was torn... Would/Should you expect the dealer to notice this and point it out to you, get you to pay for the required parts and sort it? Or are they just concerned with whats under the bonnet?

a decent dealer should notice these little things, i would expect them to let you know what it will cost to fix and ask if you want it done.
you could make it easier for them and tell the service advisor when you drop the car off.
or, to save yourself some money, buy the parts and fit them and DIY :)

I understand what your saying and yes I'll probably get the bits and do it myself, I didnt expect them to do it. I was just curious to see if anyone else would expect them to notice it. I suppose they cant notice everything on someones car, and I guess a courtesy light is a bit tricky as it can be switched off so you wouldnt necessarily think the bulb is out!
mine came back with a sheet of what they checked...
It included tyre pressures... which is great... well except that when i checked them myself to see what they had set them at... the fronts were 31 one side 36 the other and the backs were both 28...
which was a bit pants. I know they were all 32 when it went in.
Apart from that no problems, and they remembered to put the oil in, and they didn't leave the sump plug off, and didn't put any dents anywhere... so can't really complain :D
The courtesy light would be difficult to spot in daylight... but do you really want to pay them £35 for changing a bulb anyway?
on any service that is undertaken all lights levels tyre check and pressure check are carried out this is all inclusive of what is due for the service .all electrical components should be checked all lights on and in car including dash lights heater lights should be checked and either fixed under warranty or reported to the customer.stuff like wiper blades, brake pads are down to you as a wear and tear item and if you check your service check list it says at the top of it :ask cutomer if new wiper blades to be fitted.
if your tyre pressures were set incorrectly then you should tell the dealer because if u dont no one else will and some apprentice will be mucking up everyones pressures.
