View Full Version : Best grease for use in Forge 007P
Hi,
I just serviced my DV as it was starting to stick. Took it for a quick spin but wasn't totally happy. It was crisper, but i noticed something odd.
When i lifted of the sound wasn't of a sharp whoosh, it was more of a loudish sharp whoosh to begain with (as normal), but then it tailed of gradually rather than ending sharply as i think it should.
I'm wondering now if the grease i'm using is the right stuff or if i'm using enough of it.
I know the servicing guide recommends Mobile 1 high temp grease a local garage recommended something called Red "N" Tacky #2 from Lucas Oil Products.
Its called a multi purpose EP Grease with a 540degree C drop point
Is this stuff sutible?
If it is, then how much do i need to use? I gave the piston a light covering and also did the O-rings and a very thin layer on the inside of the DV. Not very easy to quantify i know but any guidance would be appreciated.
I used LM2 High temp grease that you can buy in most motor factors. I couldn't find any of the Mobil 1 grease they recommend anywhere, not had any problems at all after following the guide on the Forge web site. DV sounds fine too.

Hello,
I contacted Forge a while ago. This because i couldn't find the Mobil 1 grease anywhere.
A few days later i recieved an full service kit from Forge. This kit includes the Mobil 1 Grease, 2 o-rings and an piston (for the 006 model). This al for free!
I would suggest to contact Forge and let them send you the recommended grease

I contacted them too, they sent me a spare piston, o-rings, 2 different springs, shimes + some mobil 1 grease for free. :D
Ah, sounds good, i might well do the same as i thinl one of my O-rings is a bit damaged
I also asked for spare O rings (2 set), because the rings my DV came with were knackered. They sent me some free lube (reddish) which i am using since then with great success. Sadly no spare piston for me :\.

Cool. Could you send me some, and perhaps a stiffer spring & some new rings?? Noticed mine sticking at times, so either I'm using the wrong grease, or have a sticky seal, or need a stiffer spring... ... ... or all 3...

I think you might have to pay for stiffer springs which in all honesty i wouldn't mind doing. I think stiffer springs would help it work better if i where to reverse it.

Not too clever of Forge to recommend a grease that nobody can find! I used Castrol LM, haven't had any problems.

me too thank you!
As a note my DV is over 2 years old, would it be worth replacing the spring or changing the spring for a stiffer one now due to increased boost im running?? (1.45bar peak)
