Bill.
In response to your question ,and as promised, i'm running with 'fast road pads'. Hope this is of help.

Am looking to have a set of Ibiza turbo discs and pads stuck on- or am i on a rapidly descending spiral?

What flavour beeza do you have Doodle? If it's an 8v Cupra then it'll have 256mm discs. Turbos (and 16v Cupras) use 280mm discs, so you need either new calipers or some caliper spacers. I gather RSD can supply spacers pretty cheaply though.

That said, a smaller grooved disc generally works better than a larger flat surfaced one... But if you were to go for a big grooved disc...

oops G,

Mayb i should have been a bit more specific, yes its an 8v, its already got G88 grooves on, am in cahoots with RSD about the turbos and new calipers, they can supply and fit. They seem to think that they would be the best option b4 stepping up to Brembo or AP's-unless someones giving them away of course!!

That combo would stop you pretty well.
Same setup as on my own.

HOWEVER

There was a major breakdown of my pads when Amethyst were doing some other work to my car Thursday this week.

ALL 4 PADS from the front brakes has broken away from the rest of the pad material and backplate!
Pagid FR5051's.
I have never seen this happen with Pagids, and I have run dozens of sets over the years.

Some serious flaw in this particular set, OR too much heat from the G88 disks and cars weight. Only 7500miles on the car and 2 sets of brake pads have been used.
Brakes had been "seriously used" whilst a road test had been conducted back in December 01. Totally screwed now.

New set of FR5051's fitted now, and brake pedal is at the top once again (strange how you get used to, what now felt like, a long pedal). Stops on a pin.
Not sure how long these will last. Going to be keeping my eye on them for sure.

Hmmmm,

Bill

I've never seen this with Pagids before Bill. I used to run them with ATE Powerdiscs on my Corrado with 15"s and 17"s and I hammer brakes on track (slightly over-cautious cornering ;) ).

I'll be getting another set of Pagids when the Ibiza's standard ones have died.

I am still sticking with them, and will post pictures when I get a mo. Its never happened before.
I have asked Pagid for their comments so I will send them back.

Sorry Jason - was forgetting about you awkward b*ggers with 1.8 16v's... should have said 2.0 16v's have 280mm discs. DOH!
