i keep hitting the limiter so i could really do with a tacho. dont have a great deal of money to spend and im not bothered about having some huge fast and the furious style thing. just wondered what options were available to me.

Just wait till you bounce off the limiter, then change gear! :) :)

if its an 8v then your past your peak torque so dont let it rev out. hitting the limiter on the 8v is silly unless its heavily modded inc cam etc.
Find some dials from a MK2 that has a techometer. I got some for Harris on SO from an SXE for about £20 and they fitted straight in with no problems.

yeah i no but sometimes i wonder if i change 2 early and lets just say im really bad at judgeing it.
i will have to have a look out for an sxe.
It doesn't have to be an SXE, it can be any other model with the tacho, so if you like the dials in the GTI/Cupra Sport, get some dials from one of them :)

i was told that gti dials didnt work as the speedo was all to **** or summet.
aye - the wiring may be wrong...
best look in tweeks for one & wire it up away from teh dash
Well the ones I got were from an S plate SXE and they slotted into and worked in Harris's N reg (pre-facelift) CLS with no problems.
There's an SXE in a scrap yard locally to me. The next time I'm down there I could always take a look for you?

I think when I posted Harris's across it was about £7.
when u fit this new dash insert will you have to code the immobiliser keys in and programme the correct milage etc?????
i want to do this swop on mine see!!!!
No immobiliser stuff to change, it's just the mileage that's the issue. I think this can be changed, but at a cost.

the imobalizer has a seperate control unit on these earlier cars. the mielage can be changed ppl in uto trader advertise under mielage correction.
can the milage be changed by using vas 5052???????
