View Full Version : Cupra Recaro's
Hi Guys,
Question:
Do your UK dealers supply the Leon Cupra with the leather Cupra Recaros that have 'Cupra' printings on the upholstered part of the seat?
The Cupra4s in The Netherlands (V6 or TDI http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif ) have them stock.
For the non-cupra Leon we have a Leather option though, but without the Cupra print!
I wonder if that is what you guys get when having the leather option on your cupra?

Seat Leon Cupra TDI
Yep thats what we get.. the non-recaro ful leather seats, without the logo.
------------------
We dont get the V6 Cupra anyway, nor have we had the 1.8VT 4Motion either, dont think we have the hot TDI yet either.
The original 2000 Cupra spec like mine came with the leather as standard but not cupra logo embossed recaros.
They have only been recently made availble since the V6 has come out, and as i say we have no V6 over here nor does it look like we ever will. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif
Since early 2001 the leather has been a factory option, and this is again the non logo'd type.

I wonder why that is. Such a great car.
So basically, only option for you guys is to buy a left handed NL version?

WE have no idea but it seems SEAT UK who are the UK importer and seem to be a law unto themselves deem that we can not have it.
They also cut out most of the options you guys have as standard.

Danny,
Did you get the 6 cd changer when you bought your car ? I didn't but i thought it should have been in, oh, and did you get the radio display feature in the console, i didn't.
One more thing, when you switch to drivers side exterior mirror adjustment, then the near side mirror also moves, it says something in the book about disabling this but i don't understand how :-( maybe you could look it up and tell me what to press etc.

My cupra didnt come with leather seats http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif but i did get the radio display in the console and headphone sockets that work in the rear of the car and a 6cd changer in the glovebox, although i have swapped it for a 12 cd changer instead because of all the driving i do !!

They offered it for free to me (Since it's normal to haggle a bit here, in fact they almost make no money on a new car, most comes from maintainance) automaticly!
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>oh, and did you get the radio display feature in the console, i didn't.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Erhm, you mean that VDO Navigation system? Or that removeable front on your radio? Or the climate control?
Removable front and climate are stock, navigation not.

Yes, thats because it thinks it knows how the near side should be.
Unfortunatly my car is at the dealer now and I left my instruction book in it. My MAF broke last Sunday (I saw that coming already, though) but they now got some strange errorcode which can't be discarded http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif . I'll have a look for you as soon as I got my car back. Damn, I surely hate 1.6 Ibiza's now. And just did about 15Km with it driving from the dealer to my house http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .
Did you do your 2000 Km yet? Fast isn't it!!! I even beat a VR_6 mk3 at 80-120 in fourth gear.
Beware when you start to loose some Power at lower RPM and gain some after 4500! Or when you get less acceleration when you hit full and get more when you take back gas a bit. That might indicate a broken MAF (and seems to be very common to happen!!!)
Have Cupra4 Fun!

Hi danny
I meant the little single line dislay in the console which just shows the same as that on the radio. AFAIK it was standard for CUPRA but was taken out as a cost reduction thing. If you look at the console, there is the big box in the middle where all the indicator lights are, and under there are two blanked windows (only small strips) One of these can be the radio display.
I haven't noticed any power reduction, but i have only done 2600KM as of yet.
BTW when i picked up my car i noticed that the steering wheel was always at 5-to-12, well i thought i better get it looked at, because i started to think that the car pulled right. They refused to put the car on to the jig, because they said i should have reported it within the first 1000KM http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif They will correct the steering wheel, but that will not put my mind to rest. My brother in law works at a VW workshop, maybe i can get it checked there at the weekend.
Thanks a lot Seat Service.

Ah, no I don't have that radio indicator as well. I was thinking of adding a few lacking meters (oil temp/pres. and turboboost) there. Especially since a Belgian tuner has a 190HP chip available now. Should be able to launch that TDI 0-100 in about 7 secs with that kind of violence!
My steeringwheel isn't fully centered as well, it's 1 over 12 on my car.
Unluckily my car still hasn't been fixed yet http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif ... They simply don't know what's wrong and try new parts every two days. If they haven't fixed it next Monday I'll take it to another SEAT garage, maybe some other brainpower can solve the problem!

Hi Danny,
What symtoms did you say your car got when the airflow meter was packing up ? I am thinking that i am not getting the power that i used to have, but may be i'm dreaming !

Cupra_man,
It seemed to have less acceleration force in lower RPM: felt like the turbo spinning up to slow and less response when hitting the metal. In higher RPM though, power seemed to be normal, and it seemed more easy to pull the car to about 4700 RPM in 2th, 3th and 4th gear.
However I don't think the MAF was the problem afterall. I pulled out the connector a few times and started the engine to see how it would respond without any Mass Air Flow info. I think the ECU logged an errorcode for that and the garage assumed that would be a failing MAF.
Since this didn't clear up the problem they continued search and found that the air-tube which connects the intercooler with the air inlet on the engine was teared up!!! So they temporary fixed it with some kit and duck tape and said they ordered a new one. They actually don't know when it comes in.
Now, most of the power is back, but again it seems to be decreasing more and more. So I hope that this is because it started leaking air pressure again. Or, maybe the garage faked the teared up inlet tube because they actually don't know whats wrong and won't call me to replace that part (or call me, simply remove that tape and kit and tell me the new part has been installed). But on the other hand, it would completely explain what happens: Air pressure leaks, engine gets less pressure than desired, kicks turbo to produce more pressure, which can't be done in lower RPM.
So, if power drops completely in your car (not able to go any faster than 140kmh in 6th), bring it to your garage and let em check that tube first.
Ofcourse there still is "getting used to the power", however since I got a 1.6 (probably 100HP) Ibiza as loaner car which should be much slower than the Leon and not having that feeling when I got my Leon back I kind of discard this.
Flapper,
Please explain my Dutch ass. I don't understand either NAFF nor IMO.
I'm not sure the seats you mean are the same. See Interior (http://members.tripod.de/peter3112/cupra/page9.html) (Not my car). It's not entirely clear but readable for sure. BTW; is that much for those seats?

NAFF = rubbish , a bit tacky? not very good
IMO = in my opinion
as for your seats ours have same trim in the ibiza but not that shape , and our aftermarket recaros are different , they have black trim and adjustable lowers etc
http://www.seatcupra.net/images/castle/8.jpg
very similar shape to our std seats

Danny,
thanks for the nfo on air flow meter problems, I don't think i've got any worries at the moment, I was doing 220KMH on the A2 in Germany over the weekend, it still had some more go in it, 4300 RPM on the rev counter.
------------------
Black Leon Cup Racing TDI
Flapper,
why do I think I would stay put in those seats on your pic better than in the stock C4 ones? They seem to have a little more depth for better side grip. Not bad at all!
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>and our aftermarket recaros are different, they have black trim and adjustable lowers etc
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Ours have the adjustable parts too. But you are right. One must be big enough to get a bit side grip. IMO (yes I learn) I'm skinny!
Cupra_pilot, (btw, my apologies, last time I typed 'c_man' in stead of 'c_pilot')
Glad to hear. D*mn, I had it at 220 (but at much less than 4300 RPM) here in Holland a week before it broke but never gained that again (not even downhill). However if I get caught by police with that kind of speed, I surely loose my licence for a while. When I have chipped the car I surely have a go on the autobahn too! Beware that ambient temperature has influence on performance as well (and especially our 2.5 bar TDIs)

Reading this thread I realized there are a lot of differences between countries.
In Greece the only Cupra is the V6. Thats why nobody has it yet! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
The 180bhp version is called 20VT and 20VT4 for the four motion, which by the way was present in the market from the very beginning... I wonder why in the UK they don't import it... I have seen a chipped Leon 20VT4 beat an Audi S3.... 4motion rules!
We also have the 1.4 leon, the 1.6 and the 1.8 non turbo. They produce 75, 105 and 125bhp respectively..
The 20VT does NOT come with standar leather seats. However, if you want leather you'll have to pay another 1000 GBP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(someone complained about the 450???!!??).
But the offer that thing that heats up the seat as well. And its full leather, not leather/alcantara..
No DIESEL for us AT ALL!! (illegal, apart from taxis, buses and trucks)....

Yep, thats true! Be happy to buy a V6, the TDI is a little underpowered.
