ive heard rummors going around that you can activate leaving home funtion and DRL function using VAGCOM. ive got a 5dr se copa and its got the Auto headlights but i definatly dont have DRL or leaving home function, so i was wondering if i could get it activated using VAGCOM and would the dealer do it for me if i took it to them? i dont have a VAGCOM cable so i cant do it myself.

I have just got my VAGCOM cable and software today, I have tonight hopefully activated the DRL. My car also had the leaving home lights activated but I did notice that there was a bit to a activate them too. I also changed the auto headlight sensitivity cos I found that the speedos were too dark sometimes, so I hope the lights will come on earlier to solve the problem!!

Will let you know if it all works ok!

Did you get the DRLs to work? Which part of the light is lit up?

Yep the DRL function works, very easy to do. The lights are the low beam lights.

Cool, do the rears come on too or just the headlights?

Nope, only the front lights are on. I am surprised that Seat don't activate them, because I believe the EU have a new regulation now. And if the option is there, why not us them!!

DRL's are enabled by byte 23, bit 6. You can increase the sensitivity of the Light Sensor up to 60% which will make the lights come up earlier (RLS byte 0, bits 3-4). Leaving home can be enabled by byte 10 bit 1. That is, if the car has an light switch with an 'auto' position.

Do you need to have automatic lights to have the DRLs work? - I tried to enable it in my Ibiza it doesn't work :(

I have the Rain/Light sensor as part of the convenience pack, but no automatic lights. I'm guessing if I get the automatic switch and enable the light sensor functionality in VCDS then I'd be able to enable DRLs and Leaving Home lights?

i also want to know if the drls will work on a car without auto lights

I suspect it might depend on year, the newer Ibizas seem to have a different electric system with a fair number of changes.

Thats my concern, I don't wanna splash out £100 on an automatic light switch and then not be able to enable it in vagcom and end up with a really expensive paper weight!
