Hello Rick.
To correct Danny a little. The connecting rods are just sold by us as we are a distributor for DM Forged (which is getting rather popular...:( )
DM Forged H-beam - H-144|25|20-S - $379 USD w/ ARP 2000 bolts.
DM Forged I-beam - I-144|25|20-S - $479 USD w/ ARP 2000 bolts.
The I-beam's are rifled drilled and the new batch that they are getting at the end of this month for the H-beam's will be rifle drilled.
Delivery to Florida with DHL is 3 business days so order Monday and they are there Thursday. if you want DHL express , order monday and they are there Tuesday.
OEM bearings (connecting rod) are $55 USD and Calico units are $95 USD

Personally I would have gone with dm forged rods and a h-beam design.i have dm forged rods in mine and so does dans1pru,cuprarash ECT...
Each rod can take 250whp so unless you engine will produce 1000whp the h-beam rods are perfectly fine and as fir the coated bearings they just dispense the heat from friction of the crank for extreme bhp application...oem rods bearings are fine too
Have you thougt about a set of oe headbolts & headgasket too?

nope, prices please, and a timing belt kit whilst your there lol

Oe one or gates performance timing belt?
Do you require the timing kit...
cupra_r_ick
04-09-2011, 11:23
No but if the heads off might as well fit one. Oe would be fine I think can't see a need for uprated gates one

That's is fine...
What is your power goal? Have you seen the ferrea 1-peice exhaust valves Sammy sells? What you planning in replacing in the engine? Full rebuild or partial rebuild

I'm only planning a strong stage two for now. Will go bt but not for along time so not too worried about valves etc tbh

Just thinking while its all apart..
So :
DM Rods
Rod Bearings (oe)
Headgasket
OE Headbolts
timing belt kit
Anything else? Oil Pump,Water pump,Engine assembly, oil filters so on..

It's all gota come back in my suit case, so unless stuff like head gasket kit etc is way cheaper then ill probate just get it over here tbh, but rods and bearings I'm deffinately going to order, your personal opinion on non rifle drilled rods ?

SCAT MSRP is 399 USD + whatever it is to ship to us.
i dont think so. just a price for 2 sets of rod for now.
If its going to the same address then we can charge once for shipping. Ball park $85 USD for shipping 2 sets to the London area.

Sorry Danny,
gotta correct you again mate. Apologies.
On the H-beam that DMF offers , the neck design is actually different. The rod is slightly heavier (20g) but if your took a C-C (cross section of the beam) you would see the radius is 1mm larger to incorporate the 1.5mm EDM channel through the center of the rod. The non-EDM H-beams are almost the same as SCAT/IE/Toda/ blah blah but not exactly the same. Remember these rods are engineered from the ground up while still being:
A. Affordable
B. competitive in the market in terms of engineering and features.

I-beams have a lighter beam design while providing almost the same structural integrity. FEA on both rod designs prove to be almost the same. You will see a full introductory soon when I have the data from Greg (DMF).
We need to update our SCN listing as that has changed alot over the last 2 years...:D
We still sell SCAT , allthough SCAT as a company has not evolved since 2004...they still offer just (2) SETS of connecting rods for the VW/Audi platform.
144/20 and 159/21mm
and both sets dont have forced pin oiling as well as pretty much a replica of the neck design as that of eurospec (which has been known to buckle in some really high horse power builds). If you wanted a drop in 2.0 FSI connecting rod , SCAT wouldnt be the first choice in the industry.
Through our advice and help , DM Forged offers a connecting rod for pratically every single VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda on the market. They are even working a 1.8 TSI connecting rod for the Greek , Portguese and Romanian market (as well as wherever the 1.8 TSI motor was offered).
Personally speaking i prefer selling DM Forged over SCAT because if there is ever a problem in the future , you deal with us directly (since DM is semi local) and not a company in California some 10,000 miles away...
Calico coating is just an alternative to OEM. I personally prefer using coated bearings in my high horsepower builds as thats what Bentley, VW & AUdi use in there upscale motors (W12 , V8 etc) .

Excellent..
From what i can gather sam they want it posting to Florida in the Us...As hes going there so wants to bring them home in the suit case...

Knowing DMF they probably will back it up and if they dont we always do (see my feedback on here). If they are going to a Florida address thats fine (once it leaves INA Engineering I dont want to know what you do with the invoice crossing in the UK...not my concern), DHL in the lower 48 for a 10 x 10 x 6 box will be around $28 weighing that much.
There isnt a real need for rifle drilled rods but like everything there is also no real need to modify your engine right ?
It provides additional oiling to the wrist pin which allready gets oiled/cooled via the oil squirters so its pretty much a sort of insurance.
