Why?

Hi, has anybody noticed how the ventilation system seems to go up by one speed (or is it de-mist?) when reverse gear is selected? My car's an 06 Stylance with dual climate control. My dad drives a Skoda that does the same thing... If you haven't noticed anything, I bet it does it none-the-less. But what's the point?

I beleieve tt is opening the recirc flap to reduce the amount of exhaust coming into the car.

ssstew is correct. reverse engaes recirc, like the rear wiper if windscreen wipers are on. Clever really

Also recirc happens on mine when i press the windscreen washer arm for a while. I suppose this stops the smell of screen wash entering the cabin.
