My brother is looking for a Ibiza for about £1000, for this money what will he get. Do you guy's have many problems with the older car.

Hi, I bought my Ibiza GTI (N) last July for £1800. It's got quite high milage but is one owner and had been serviced from a dealer reasnably reguarly. It needed about £200worth of work done to it to make it perfect. I had problems with the central locking and it needed a cambelt change, which i'm told is pretty essential after 65000 miles. Apart from modding it I have had no problems with running servicing and maintenance, and because its (dare i say?) basically a golf with new clothes, servicing and parts have been cheep and a doddle to fit. Mods on the other hand have been a bit difficult (maybe its just my experience!!) but getting and fitting what I want aint been so good.

sold my ibiza 1.9d a 1994 M reg last year with 120000 miles on the clock, in the family from new, never broke down, great apart from the paintwork wasnt as good as on the later models, the arches and sills were starting to bubble with rust!
oh yeah forgot to say that it was that horrible mushy pea green colour!!!!

how dare thee diss the colour of the green machine!!!!!! :censored: only joking!!! its my fav colour tho!! same probs here with the paintwork + ive had a bit of jip with me gear changes - might be clutch or gearbox BUT... im onto me 2nd ibiza now and ive never broke down or had to do major repars to one!!! overall i think there mint :thumbup: buy 1 buy 1!!! :cheers:

Just to add, when i say probs with the paintwork i dont mean rust (non of my ibiza's has rusted on me - i had my 1st Mk2 for 3 years!!) its the laqer (spelt wrong me thinks!! it knida peeled off on the back bumper + spoiler so i had it resprayed and woo hoo!!!! its all gone!! :thumbup:
Mate it wasnt the same green as yours, it was that drab non metallic dark green, the kiwi colour is cool!
by the way my current ibiza is that really bright metallic green, i just hated the colour of my old one (good camoflage though when out in the countryside with my girlfriend!!!)
