View Full Version : Origin B2 blackspot detector
Hi
Well I bought one last weekend - from my local shop in macclesfield - £389 fitted.
Picked it up only to find the fitter had fitted the GPS antennor in the wrong place. This was put right. Took it out for a test, fine, went home and powered unit down. Watched F1 qualifying and decided to go and test again. Got in car, pushed power up button and...........nothing. Dead unit. Went back to shop (unhappy). Sorry sir, it seems to be broken and we dont have any more in stock - more coming in Monday. Ring up Monday, sorry sir, its going to be tomorrow. Tuesday, go to shop and get exchange unit. Go out testing - seems fine, powers up and down ok, detects satety cameras. Go down a bumpy road (rather quickly) and get funny burning smell and unit claims it cannot detect any satillites (beep beep beep). Stop car, remove fuse box cover, wiggle wires etc, unit finds statellites and starts working again. Worked all way home and worked this morning. Got to work this morning and go to load up software disk to download databases - disk not recognised.
Not going great is it.
I will be back to the shop tomorrow (again) to try and rectify.
Next exciting episode next week
Cheers
Rob

The bumps and loss of satellite reception is nothing new - you won't cure it (I'm on unit #2) and although much better than the first it's still playing up on a regular basis.. take it back and get a snooper s4 is my advice :(
They blamed my 'hard suspension' for mine constantly tripping into sattelite search mode, which made me laugh at the time, however they suggested putting a small strip of velcro between the unit and the cradle and it has worked fine ever since
Turns out the pin joints between the cradle and the unit is too small and the slightest movement can cause them to come apart  , another solution my mate did was to open the unit and push the pin connector block slightly down giving it a better contact with the cradle. I got an extra 3 months updates for the hassle I had.
I've had 5 months for all the trouble I've had.
My latest problem came with the crap power lead, because it kept on popping out. I've since wrapped a load of electrical tape around the connectors and hardwired it in and have had no problems since.
I've scratched the screen too...any ideas how I can get this out?
Id highly recommend the Road Angel.
It has saved me from a potential two complete license losing moments!
Mine's saved me from god knows how many Gatsos/Truvelos and one or two DS2s.
I don't not recommend the B2, I've just had a few problems with mine. It's all fine now.
Anyone actually got the 'remote control' test to trigger the laser detector cause I havent :(
After my little run in with the mobile camera unit i'm purchasing a unit this week and i've got 4 other poeple intrested. does any one know of any group buys or cheapest outlets to get it from.
do they pick up mobile camera's, speed guns and radar's and the like? its still the most expensive unit is it the best? i've been looking at the snooper s4 neo & s6 neo how do they compare? the b2 is the most expensive subscription i think or i'm i wrong?
please help me and my buddies decide.

Steve, I've actually got Brasso for my wheels :)

Anyone else with a B2 got something under the screen.. so annoying as to remove it will mean breaking the warranty seal
I too have had loads of problems with my B2, from cr@pola customer service to dire build and design quality.. however I will say that the last month or so has been fine (apart from the dodgy power connector - also fixed by electrical tape)
Ian, I haven't anything under my screen, must just be something they've forgot to reove while making it.
