did a search and couldn't find much on this...
going away this weekend, so need a bike carrier...
the two options are:
1) Thule Clip-on High Cycle Carrier
2) Saris Bones 801 3 Cycle Carrier
anyone have any experience with the above... their both in the reigion of £100,
or easily found alternatives?
cheers
J
I have got an Atera bike rack for the roof and is really good as long as you dedicate one rack for one bike (because it is a pain to adjust, but good when set). Takes about 20seconds to load the bike on there and no problems with accessing the boot (I do have one of the rear rack jobbies and prefer the roof ones). http://www.roofbox.co.uk//ar2216r.html £60 each.

okay.. ended up with a saris bones carrier... was the most solid one that halfords had (was a last minute thing...)
overall quality was good.. I was initially bothered about the mounting points, rubbing paint off etc etc, but after about 6-700 miles of driving around wales in a spirited fashion, it all held secure and no paint was rubbed off by the mounting strips.
my only grumble with it is that it is so adjustable that i had it initially so close to the car that the "top" mounting straps were at a shallower angle than the arm, and so when going down the motorway i could see it bouncing on the rear window :-o , but that was rectified very quickly, you can see it mounted correctly on the photo attached (onto a very dirty LCR... :hide: )
cost of the thing was £89, and i'd recommend it.
