View Full Version : "The Golf" mag May'04 - Diesel article
I know it's strictly not SEAT, but it is VAG group.
There's a nice 8 page article on Golf TDIs in this months "The Golf" mag.
Revo'd, Jabba'd, AMD'd etc, Golfs tested on BHP, torque, 0-60 times & max speed.
Haven't fully read the aricle but did notice an Allard Golf 150 with 226BHP & 369 lb/ft...mmmmmmm!

The Allard Golf was last year's Portuguese CNV winner. It's actually running a remap and hybrid turbo "made in Portugal" by F3Sport & turbocenter. It was doing a bit more Hp when running here, but I think they down tuned it cus of reliability.
The heat treated red tubing in the following link to be seen installed in a toledo soon... ;)

UUUhhhggggg..I meant
It's Aluminum tubing painted with some space tech sh@t. Think it's there so the tubing doesn't pick up extra heat from the engine compartment.

not out up here yet :thumbd:
0-60 times aren't exactly a diesels strong point. I guess it makes up for it with less trips into the pits for fuel.. :D
Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe that this is not a pd motor but a HIGHLY modified 110 tdi.... anyone got any engine pic's??
ops... just looked at http://www.allardmotorcompany.com/pages/products/product-details.asp?ID=13 sort of looks like a pd engine, umm i sure someone told me it was an 110tdi, oh well.... Losts of cash spent to get that power if so, a Ł425 jabba remap on a 150 will see over 200 bhp so Ł2000 for 30 more bhp, sounds great value to me....
Problem isn't the xtra 30hp, it's making it reliable as well. Beside the numbers can fool you a bit.
It probably 226, but flat from 3800-5000rpms.

While this Golf ran in the portuguese championship it was a very strong contender, ending the overall championship (gassers + oilburners) in a fantastic 2nd place after the Civic Type-R.
On a race I attended at the Estoril track, it was capable of accelerating evenly with a Civic Type-R (estimated 215bhp) up to ~100mph. After that speed the Civic was considerably stronger and got away, but nonetheless the Golf performance was amazing for an oilburner. [B)]
cool Gleistung , any more vids from your side of the water? ;) i miss them, they were cool!

Its the turbo from our old PD Golf (as featured) that now power the little Fabia ;)
According to the chap who went down it did quite well.

Kev didn't get to drive when they did the timed runs, car what very badly set up as an overall car. Good day out though!
