Does anyone know of a synthetic engine oil for 1.9TDI PD engines that is VW505.01 or higher?
There is a VW506.01 oil, is this fully synthetic?
Please let me know.

Having just bought a new leon 20vT cupra i was also wandering what was the best thing to do about oil changes. what is the best type of oil?, when is the best time to change it?(intervals)
having never had a turbo before all this is new and the dealership near to where i live is'nt exactly helpful on this.

IIRC the 20vt need 503.00 spec oil (but don't quote me).

good post Vern.. Some countries don't use variable service though (Portugal being one of them). I think it's due to high temps we usually have and the 506.01 speced oils being 0W-30.

I have a Leon 1.9 TDI 130bhp. The Seat cust care line quoted me to use VW50601, when my warning light came on the other week.
However, the Seat dealer recommended that only PDOIL available only at Seat dealers can be used. Spec VW50501. I have now had it serviced where they used VW50501.

Should I be worried that I'd used VW50601?
Any comments would be appreciated.

right mate

vag 505.01 = for all diesel engines with unit injectors(P.D) WITHOUT variable service intervals sae 5/40w

vag 506.01= for all diesel engines with unit injectors (P.D) with variable service intervals sae 0/30w (that will be castrol SLX longlife II ) then ;)

conclusion both oils no prob although u are prob on fixed 10k services so use 505.01 much cheaper and u will have probs @ all mate

hope this helps

Yep, exactly as Vern mentions. Some countries, like Portugal don't like the variable service.
