Has anyone had their spark plugs changed yet?,

If not watch out cos your in for a shock, The are £56 for 4 http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif ,

I just had my 40,000 mile service last week and the bill for the standard service not including any additional parts or work was £301.09 http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif ,

If anyone else has had this service, how much did it cost them?,

And in case you want to source the plugs yourselves they are ngk pfr60, I'm sure they can be had cheaper somewhere, my local seat dealer said they are happy for me to bring along my own parts for them to fit if i dint want them to supply them, so i am going to supply my own oil, and my own plugs from now on!!

I suppose thats the price you have to pay for the performance!

Cheap....

I'm used to paying over £100 for a set of plugs on my old 145 Cloverleaf :-o . 8 of them in a twinspark, 4 normal size and 4 smaller sized plugs..

I have changed them and the price was similar. Tried getting them from another source but the price was similar.
Very expensive these spark plugs

a certain dealer in newbury (who is no more) changed my spark plugs to iridium ones and charged me £78 for the privelege.

not only were these not the right plugs for the 20VT, they were not due to be changed for another 20000 miles! when questioned on this they said they had "seen problems" with the standard plugs. yeah right, glad they are no longer dealers.

i then had to make sure that the next dealer didn't change the plugs 20000 miles later at the CORRECT interval, or i would have only got 20000 miles from £80 worth of plugs!

needless to say, i saw absolutely no difference whatsoever with the "superior" iridium plugs.

40K service cost £492!!!! (but did include 2 new tyres @ £98 each) so looks like your bill is about right

My 40k service was £281 - but I did supply my own oil which saved a few pennies.

Bloody hell didn't realise the plugs were so expensive, hopefully it will be a few more years before I get to 40,000 miles :)

That's an excellent price from Euro Car Parts. I know that these can be had much cheaper from other sources than the dealers.

I got similar design Bosch plugs from German and Swedish form my 16V Mk3 Golf (ABF engine - 40,000 miler service plugs) for about £36 when they where about £70 from Volkswagen.

Bosch and Champion also do plugs for the 1.8 20V T engine, anyone tried these?

I am reluctant at the moment as my car is under dealers warranty until end of August.

I am having the occasional cut out shortly after start up and sometimes difficulty in starting from warm. I suspect my plugs have lasted 35,000 miles and now need changing.

The cost of 40,000 mile service is scary. Though I will have changed my brake pads all round prior to this and will ask what they will be doing to the car for the service.

anyone who does buy the expensive plugs just make sure you tell the dealers NOT to change the plugs at the next 40000 mile interval or they will regardless

I'm a bit worried, as I paid £283 for a 40k service last month, and only £16 of that was for the spark plugs. Have they fitted cheap and nasty ones for me which won't last 40k? Or is it just because it's only a 1.4 and it doesn't need such fancy plugs?

I wouldn't worry, my NGK plugs were £14 and they are fine
