my mk2 1.4 ibiza does not start it turns over but does not fire up will not bump either is there a common prob or does any know what could be wrong IM LOST WITH OUT MY IBIZA AND OH YES ITS BROKEN DOWN IN A NOT TO FREINDLY AREA so please any ideas
any 1 ideas???????????
I love your descriptive title.
check ignition leads & distributor cap.
does it fire at all then splutter or does the starter crank the engine, but no ignition?
either way - my money's on igntion lead/dizzy cap
my first step would be to buy a can of wd40 & apply liberally.

When you say it doesn't bump start what do you mean?, do all the lights come on the dash OK?, do the wheels lock when you drop the clutch out?.

sorry i dont know. mine was an all in one unit.
you have got petrol in it?;)
coils are prone on long life mk2,happeing more often these days, pretty sure they are just sealed unit so not had one apart.
while yer there give the brake pedal a wiggle and tell me how play is in it,doesn't help you but may help me with my problem:)
breake peddles find and stiff but i cannot get a spark from the coil i have got a new dizzy cap as well as rotor arm ..............................................................................................i need ideas PLEASE
no spark from coil or the lead coming from the coil?if the the former try another coil, latter new lead, try a scrappy for the coil, would be minimal cost i would say(put the lead in yer back pocket ;)
also,is there an earth lead connected to the coil?think mine did,may be worth checking this
alrdy done that got hold of a new coil no joy :thumbd:
sounds really daft depending on the year - but immobiliser chip in key ?
try ya spare key if you have one
otherwise it's trial and error from there
taken that out could it be the ecu dead and can some one tell me where to look for the bundle wire earth points are as pointed out by the haynes manual there should be 3 of them
taken that out
i gather you mean an afterfit one that was in there ???
i'm on about the passive chip inside the key
no hasent got one its funny realy cos i drove to work then @ lunch went to the shops come back and all ok after work got in and the f**ker wouldnt start i cant under stand it
what year car is it ??
and are you sure it hasn't?
pop open the key head - see if theres a little 2mm*2mm*6mm black block inside or a tiny glass tube
it hasent got a pop open bit its just a key its from a 94 mk2 ibiza
k - thnking cap back on then :p
but still can some one tell me where to look for the bundle wire earth points are as pointed out by the haynes manual there should be 3 of them
could all these problems be because of the distrubuter ?dead?
Had same problem, found out it was a dodgy wiring connection. also found some very old sun glasess behind the dash! wierd!

Differnet car, same problem. Water vapour in the cylenders causing sensors to think it was full so no fuel got through. Blown head gasket. Hopefully not the same for you, check the water levels. Started after 3 or 4 attempts.
