Has anyone tried the ABD Racing oversized turbo intake pip on their 1.8T??
If so did you notice any power gains, are the worth the money and how easy (or not) are they to fit??

wont make any diff to your LCR mate
BF
about 5bhp @ most if you could ever prove it scientifically - does allow em to pull a little better - but minimal gain unless used with other mods

Is this the ABD one with the big step just on the inlet?
Not that good from what I heard... customer car @ Jabba had one one, replaced it with stock pipe and recovered lost power.. make of that what you will.

I don't think they make one for a LCR cause the pipe is one piece,not two piece like standard cupras,try forge samco tip for 210/225 models cause its much smoother inside for flow and doesn't collapse under high boost like standard hose.Cheers Andy

yip Samco for LCR works very well :thumbup:
Questions Leo,
I think you have the DPP done before having your Samco fitted?
If you did, did you get any increased whoosh/star trek/eeechooo noises when booting it from around 3000rpm?
If answers are Yes & Yes, did fitting the Samco TIP reduce the noises?

No increased noise from DPP alone, more spool up noise after Milltek though.

No after Samco the noise is much clearer again, like a louder whistle from either the new intake pipe or just the turbo itself getting less turbulent air ?

DPP?????
Whats that, or am i having a blonde moment :confused:
Yep - DPP = APR Direct Port Programming
Just wondering if the extra whoosh (a bit like blowing hard over the top of a bottle, without the whistle) is a sign that there's some kind of restriction in the inlet/turbo/outlet, or even later, in the intercooler lines, or just a factor of the extra boost.
I suppose if the noise wasn't there after the DPP, that it's hard to tell. Didn't ZBoyd get a samco TIP? Wonder if he's fitted it yet :rolleyes:
I was looking at the weekend and noticed the "famous" rubber pipe had slipped on mine, but not blown off. pushed it back on a bit and tightened it up (wasn't that tight). I also noticed that the standard pipe from the second intercooler to the inlet manifold has a marked reduction in diameter.

In order of adding on;
Standard = quiet spooling whistle
APR DPP = slightly clearer spooling whistle
Forge DVR = cool darthy whooshy suck on release (not OTT like VTA DVs)
Milltek = louder whishy spooling - sorta more whooshy than whishy (if u know what i mean)
Samco TIP = More whistly whooshy
3" air inlet = Much more darth vadery whoosy suck
Full + 3" CAI = Don't know yet, will tell very very soon, certainly aint gonna be quiet and will more than likely scare passers by:D
Green panel filter = Dunno yet either, will certainly help the aging oem paper filter
:cheers:
Well, I fitted my forge 006P at the weekend, definitely better throttle response, and the boost seems to come on stronger. Darth Vader hasn't moved in though!
Found an easy way of getting the OE clips off, will post a pic I think...
Wonder if anyone dared get close enough to an LCR on the dyno to see if the standard TIP compresses at all under high load.
