hi could ANY ONE TELL ME WHEN I SHOULD NEED TO CHANGE MY TIMMING BELT ON A 97 SEAT IBIZA 2.0 GTI 8V.

AS I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS 60 OR100 THOUSAND MILES

60k miles or 6 years. Just had mine done (with tensioner) for less than £60 all in. Seat wanted to charge £170.

Lucky You Getting Qouted 170 I Am Getting Between 230 And 300 To Change If It Needs It.

It's not hard to do, the same as loads of Golfs etc so pretty much any garage can do it for a lot less than Seat. The belt itself only costs a tenner.

I had a feeling it was 100k miles on the 1.8T but I could be completely mistaken.

do it when you're starting to wonder when rather than 'at' the suggested point

80,000 miles on the 1.8T

Id advise changing the roller and also the damper for the tensioner as these can leak causing loss of tension on the belt.

Worth having a quick feel of the water pump aswell.
