Hi to all fellow Mk2 Ibiza owners!!
Im wanting to lower my ibiza (2.0l 16v) BUT when i say lower it, i mean slam the beast to the floor! So how low can i actually go with my car? Im not to botherd about arch mods as me cars due to go in the garage asap and ill get it done then.
Obviously the lowering kit im after will be a fully adjustable 1 (do avo do a kit for the ibiza?) and has any1 on this site slamed there car + how low did they go. cheers

Oh just to mention, i know the lower you go the rougher the ride BUT i really aint botherd bout that as im after performance + looks! cheers

soo... you're bothered about performance & looks?

if you drop your car past 50mm you will loose power @ the wheels as the drive shafts move past horizontal, if it's on the ground it will hit stuff (mine does)

I would think very carefully about it before 'slamming it'

also - it's not just the arch lip you need to be worried about it's the whole arch that will start to catch.

i think you need to decide whether you want performance or looks... assuming that a low car looks good of course.

so you'd advise a max of 50mm drop? im running the car on 17's which i 4got to mention in the above .
If so a 50 mm drop it is!

yeah - mine at 60 & it needs to go up as the car is taking a beating on rough roads

cheers! What kit do you run it on by the way? + what adjustable kits would you advise on? OR would you just go for a 50mm drop kit, this not being adjustable  . thanks.

I've dropped my current 'biza -50mm on interalloy coilovers, previous one was -60mm on the same coilovers. On the - 60mm the turning circle was increased a lot, esp with 17's - and rubbed with passenger in the back handled really well though - esp on 15's.
My current 16v hasn't need any arch mods to run at -50mm and is still quite comfy - more so than some lowering spring/shock setups.

I see you've got an F2 kit? don't run the car at -60 or you'll find you'll lose most of it or have to take loads of detours around town centres!

currently got an FK kit with adjustable platform rears, tho later this year they'll be changed to some coilovers - just because they're a better design & i can finer tune it

Mine is on a Bilstein kit which lowers it about 50mm at the front with 16s and standard bumpers. I still manage to bang it on things, it scrapes coming out of my drive and I always avoid any speed humps. I wouldn't go any lower.

I've got some higher Eibach springs to put on to regain some ride comfort but I think I'm going to go one step further and buy a Leon.

Making it low won't make it "perform" - or that is, it'll "perform", but like sh1t!!LOL

I'd lower it about 40mm as the travel is pretty short on the Ibizas anyway. Plus, if you deck it and intend to keep the car for years, it'll start falling to bits from all the jarring - and no, I'm not exaggerating...

I'd get the FK kit, as it's pretty cheap (comparitively anyway!!) and you don't need the dampening adjustment really, unless your a trackday warrior...

My old 16v was lowered about 40mm and I never had a problem with hitting things, BUT the ride was sh1t (but thats probably cos it was lowered with springs only). It never rubbed with the 17's on, even with 10mm spacers on the back.

i had -60mm springs on my old ibiza with 17" wheels, ride was suprisingly good although passengers in the back, uneven roads, sleeping policemen all a no go , its what you are willing to put up with really and as mork said the mechanicals will take a hammerin

depends - I would say mine is only marginally worse than standard, probably only the driveshafts that are taking more strain, but they don't look to be at too extreme an angle.
