Leon radio no sound

hi people can someone please help . Radio/cd on my leon stylance 2007 powers up then goes silent .Does have volume for a while then just goes silent or when i turn it on it doesnt have any volume at all??????. After i turn it off i can hear some crackling thru the speakers.Any Ideas?? Also how do u remove the unit from the dash?
