Ok gents!! I have started to think its engine conversion time  , my problem its my ibiza is a pitifull 1ltr :hide: (shame) that looks above its station, does anyone have a clue about these conversions i was thinking anything from 1.4 :D to Cupra :worship: would be a damn sight better than what I got in the engine bay. Any ideas or hints ? Did anyone ever get one done?
A couple of things to consider before going down the ol engine conversion route. Firstly you have to think about resulting cost of the said conversion , how will your insurance company look upon this conversion. What will be your increases in premium ?
What about your budget for engine and labour etc.. i dont know costs of this but i would guess around £3000 or so for 1.8T conversion .
How will this vehicle sell in the near future ? i would think you would limiting yourself there aswell, you would never get near the value of the vehicle with the work done to it.
With all this taken into account . Have you thought about selling your current car and using the money for the engine conversion and buying something like a Cordoba SX 2.0 16v or 2.0 16v Ibiza ? You can pick them up from anything like £2000 to £3500 .
With the spare change you can then have it remapped to about 175bhp and sort out suspension and im sure that'd put a smile on your face for a while . Compare to a 1.0 engine anyway .. :)
I understand a nice project car would be great and it would be a one off or something original but do have a good think about this. By the way , how old are you ? and how much is insurance on your 1.0 Ibiza ?
brett
been said before ref to conversion but add to that above for your plan of action
SUSPENSION £200 up
BRAKES £100 up
WHEELS AND TYRES £400/500
Why not do what im doin,
Blast around in a cool ibiza whilst restoring a future classic car i got for £200!
If you do a conversion your car will be off the road for ages!
Its more fun doin it this way, and cheaper. Ijust bought a spare engine for £22 from ebay!!! BARGIN  :roflmao:

What car are you restoring?
Its a Mk 2 Golf gti, 3door tornado red. i think the mk2 is the best lookin golf there ever was and ive always wanted one!
Currently having block rebored and oversize pistons fitted, have already finished sortin the cylinder head.
Its not too complicated, all you need is loads of time and some vise grips!!! every bolt shears cos its 16 years old!
Should be cool when ive finished.
