I know that you guys say that 18" wheels will upset the handling . But I want to know if they would physically fit without any body mods ? ;)

Probably, with rubber band tyres. Some people have stuffed them on mk3s before. I wouldn't want to be a passenger in an Ibiza with 18s on though, I'd rather keep my fillings!
18s will fit without body mods, but would make it handle like jelly, even more than it does already, and IMO it would look stupid.
It can be done, but id stick with 17's far better all around size for perfromance, looks and comfort.
Some 17's with a low profile tyre can look visually bigger anyhow, especially if they are usually seen with a higher profile tyre, i.e other VAG rims, a'la Toxxin and myself.
My BF Goodrich tyres at the back look miles bigger than the Toyo Proxes I have on the front. It all depends on what you stick on.

wudnt 18's wit the tyres, rub alot under the arches, ntke chunks of tyre out
