I just got a second hand exhaust manifold for my TT225 turbo. It has got some light cracks on it (not at any important place) except for one, where the turbo has to be mounted. What do you think could this be reliably repaired? If not, would that be a big problem if it develops a crack again?

sod the ringed bit - is that a crack to the top left ???

looks well past it

manifolds are possible to weld but will need a proper geezer on the job

cast rods and a couple of hours in an open fire works for me :p

Repairable, tho as Daz says it needs a Proper geezer doing it, ive tried welding cast iron b4 and it aint easy

You need to preheat the metal, then try and strike up your expensive cast rod & maintain a stable arc. Too little juice, it will just stick, fraction too much and the rod will just melt into a big sparkler........

Thats fooked im afraid.

Very common place for the TT manifold to go just there. They get a hot spot and they burn out the gasket. Usually caused by the turbo bolts comming loose and then blowing.

They also quite often crack inside where the 'seam' is just inside that port.

As mentioned before to get a weld to take is quite hard, then it has to be perfectly flat to seal.

Thanks for the input guys. I've already found a place where they fix cast iron manifolds, they also can level it. I guess it WILL crack again, just as a brand new one :\.
