Hi
I all new to this i.c.e system. I have just put 6x9 jensons in the back of my cupra. Does any know how to fit mids in the door pockets. Will i be able to run a amp and bass box off my stereo, because i have a big screen as a stero. if any one know how to set up the best system please email me. I need help with it. And how to fit all the stuff.
20v
Have a look on the ice cavern site. There's some good examples there.
I have got uprated front Alpine 6.5" components in the doors and a 10" sub in the boot. Alpine V12 amp for the sub and a sony amp for the front speakers.
The problem with putting in 6x9's in the back is that it will muck up your stereo imaging. Thats not a big deal though if you're just going for LOUD!

I got you old speakers off you. So you can get leads to run off your stero for your amp and bass box then
I use a Sony ISO adapter amp. It simply plugs between the iso connectors on the back of your head unit. Nice and easy.
For the rear, I use the rear speaker wires to the high level inputs on the Alpine amp for the sub. If you don't have an amp with high level inputs, then you can get a rca converter.
For the front speakers (I forgot who they'd gone to :p), you'll need to either make of buy speaker adapters so that they'll stick far enough out not to foul the window mechanism
Personally i dont use any of the stock system, its just not upto the job. Install an after market headunit and forget about the stock one. You could fit decent speakers in behind the grills if you'r good with a jigsaw and some MDF you can just make up some dohnuts for the new speakers to go on it.
Also, Dont use any of the stock wire if you want quality. Its just not upto the job, I used some of it when i was getting all of my stuff together. When i then ran a decent size of cable from the HU to 6x9's (0.5mm2 core - although i wanted .75) the difference was incredable. the stock stuff is like 0.2mm2 and it just cant handle a decent current that is required for 6x9's.
Jammy, what kind of Ibiza do you have? If it's a lower spec, then the HU is easily replacable, but on the Cupra, if you want a new HU, you have to put it under the steering wheel or somewhere else because the original is combined with climate screen and controls. As there is no aftermarket adapter for theis, then its a pain to change the hu. I wouldn't bother unless you want competition sound.
In my last car I had a top of the range alpine cd hu and 2 Alpine v12 amps with very expensive and fat cables throughout plus Infinity Kappa speakers and sub. With just the speakers upgraded in my Ibiza with iso amp 1 v12 with 10" sub, it sounds almost as good for a fraction of the cost and hastle.
Got the 1.4 S mate and did the single din conversion myself, took me a night and lost of cut fingers, but its easy to do. I've not done it perfectly, you can see where i cut teh plastic along the top, but its better than hiuding it below the steering wheel. In retro spect i might have put the main body beneith the stearing wheel and mounted the face in the sunvisor, however i am happy with it as it is now.
I'm not going for an ott system or one that is supper loud. I just can stand poor quality sound when listening to my fav songs and as i listen to mostly rock i feel that its just not enjoyable when there's not enough pack behind the speakers to get the quality that i want.
I've got an alpine HU, RF components and a small pheonix gold amp to power them, Set of 6x9's in the rear shelf running off the head units and currently i've got a lon of a JL sub but i wont have that forever. When i didnt have it the sound was still very good quality and i could listen to it lound enough to keep me happy, but not untill i got rid of the stock wires.
I don't think the 1.4s has the same hu as the cupra does it?
Was yours the same as the attached pic?
That's the one in the Cupra and it's a sod to replace. If yours was the same as that, can you post a pic of what you did? The only person I know to have modified this on the Cupra is Deejay (but I think it was Sauls originally), but I'm not that keen on how it looks. Be interested to see someon else's ideas...
Yeah thats the one.

That's what I thought it was going to be.
I'm not a fan, looks a little bodged to me. I don't like the idea of having half the buttons still there and not in use. I've also seen it done with the buttons either side of the screen removed and I think it looks slightly worse.
I wish someone would release a proper kit for doing something like this properly, but my guess is, it'll never happen
i dont mate sorry, only got pics of me door builds.
