Seriously thinking of get this soon, but I'm wondering how the control unit works. does anyone have one?
Was wondering if you could hook one up with a temp sensor on IC fin.? Or do they work electronically via the rpm level or something similar? Thanks

Or you could hook it up to the window washers & get a nice clean windscreen every time you want to go faster ;)

I have made my own. Seems to help in the summer months with high ambients but until i get vag com shortly i only have the butt dyno!

Ideally you want the waterspray to activate using both temperature and pressure inputs. Mine only activates at a certain boost level at the moment which is ok, but can be a bit wasteful of water.

I used an oil pressure switch working in reverse that activates at 0.7bar boost. I can also switch the system on/off manually if required, but the next stage will be to install a timer for on and off pulses. The problem at the moment is that if I am driving fast alot, the water is always on unless i manually switch it off.

It would be relatively easy to add the temperature input. You could use a thermocouple that you could slide into the inlet manifold hose connection.

if you have some electrical knowledge (helps having a dad with some :D ) it would a case of then adapting the circuit to suit.

:D :D Nice one Stu..lmao

I've seen a couple of control units (pivot & cusco). looks like both need tapping into the ecu lines and work based on rpm's. Was thinking of something simpler that would work off the IC temp with manual override (when stuck in traffic). Want something that's not a mega pain to setup eletronically..

Didn't think about control via boost, but it does make sense. I guess it would have to be setup to start sometime before max boost?

Paulo, I am also looking at exactly the same option (based on IC temp).. for Sooty II so please keep us posted if you find anything!

From what I've been reading, the improvement might help reduce temps a bit more than just upgrading the IC. Will deffo help on hot summer days.

I take it you have read the excellent article about Intercooler Water Sprays on the Autospeed website?

Basically they say that pressure switch activated systems don't work, and neither do temperature actvated systems. They explain why and how a good system will work.

I have their Intercooler water spray controller, but as I'm now using a chargecooler instead of an intercooler I've never actually installed it.

Cheers
Ben

I have read that article, all 4-5 parts of it. Excellent stuff, but I think things are slightly different on diesels (they don't suffer as much from heat soak).

Note to sell..
Reread article (at night when not half asleep)....

Are you looking to sell the controller?
