Went for a little test drive session today, as you do.

Corolla T Sport:

* First impression - doesn't look like a sports version to me sir. Though i loved the colour ' Thunder Grey', you might have seen it on the Celica T Sports.

* Took the keys and off i went. Leather was very nice (option £1,200). Gear stick was a little notchy, but the dash..... the dash....... i couldn't bare to look at it. No white dials either!! Full marks for Vag with their top quality dash boards, as soon as you step into another car you hate the dash. Ok if i say dash again......

* At first i was driving as though i was in my bezza cupra 20vt, and not getting anywhere. You really have to screw the arse of it up to 6000 + revs to get any response

* It is quite nippy, but the power delivery is annoying. Loved the sound from the engine, it sounded like i was watching F1 when i put my foot down. Driving sensibly at around 30-40 you cant even hear the engine.

* Oh and for all you Leon owners it's got 6 gears.

Poor review i know but i just wanted to get out off the car so i didn't pay much attention to anything else.

Toyota brought one to work for market research before it was launched. For a Toyota, the dash was quite good, fairly modern, nowhere near VAG but not bad. Fit and design for some controls, mainly around the centre console wasnt bad, but then other bits like coin tray, window buttons, headlamp buttons etc looked as if they were off a '83 Corolla.

certainly didnt look sporty enough for me. Rear is damm ugly, like the grille and the colour, but very dissapointing.

That said I like the Yaris T-Sport and the Celica

I just to a quick look on the Toyota site and well I an ugly car, for what I could see. I thought the Cupra had 6 gears as well or is that only on the V6 version and not the 20VT
