Airflow to Intercooler?

Does anyone have any ideas on getting more airflow to the intercooler, I assume the VT Sport/Cupras have the same setup as the TDi's (i.e. behind bumper on drivers side at bottom). the hole is not only small, but as it is mounted clsely to the inner wheel arcg liner I can't see it woring anywhere near full potential.
