Yesterday me and my friend went to ride 20 km of a hiking trail with our mountain bikes and we needed to go there by car. To get closer to the starting point of the trail, we needed to drive in a bit dodgier road! Or actually its condition was closer to that of a field. In the morning it was frozen and in the afternoon it was muddy. In the morning I was afraid of my rims or bottom of the car getting bashed and in the afternoon I was afraid of that AND getting stuck in the mud!

This is what it looked like:

And finally there:

But it was definitely worth it when we finally saw sceneries like this:

The rack was 45 €.

It's the Thule Hang On, pic here: http://www.topgear-sales.co.uk/cycle_towball.htm

And the trail is in Loppi, Southern Finland, in case you were interested. ;)

You finish need a few €'s to get those roads fixed motors looking nice, what speed did you travel the trail?
€45 is cool but im not into the idea of lashing a a towbar on to back of the wee ibiza

1. We're Finns

2. Please don't say anything about our roads before actually seeing the country yourself. Or at least before seeing more pictures. This specific road (or what would you call it) was just the last couple of hundred metres, everything else until then was tarmac. And this one only takes you to the trail, nowhere else, so the traffic isn't exactly heavy.

3. Our average speed on the trail was 10 km/h.

4. I didn't like the idea of having a towbar either, that's why I have the detachable OEM one which looks really clean when not in use. http://rmk.hamk.fi/~konttmi1/seat/PICT2567.JPG

Nothing wrong with that road... I wouldn't be taking an LCR down it though, but most cars with a bit of ground clearance would be ok.

If you get stuck deflate the tyres a bit, then when you get back on the proper road drive slower till you can get somewhere to pump em up again.

Yeah, if all our roads were like the one in the pics, I probably wouldn't have paid extra and got the 16"ers... ;) Estonia across the gulf, however, has some really bad tarmac roads. (But that's an ex-Soviet country, so it's understandable.) Already a stock Córdoba Sport on those 16's would be a horrible ride.
