So doing an O2J conversion on a MK2 should be easy as the MK2 and MK3 use the same floorpan...

I beleave its the 02J, its very similar to the 02A which is a cable change box used in mk3 golf gti 16 valve models and some passats, watch out though because the 02A is also use in VR6 models but the bellhousing is not compatible with 4 cylinder engines!!! Driveshaft cups seem to vary across the range some are pust in and some bolt in, changing over from one to the other can be done but its a mega pain lol
